What makes those boom up and boom down shots look so good? A jib! That’s right. While filming our most recent 3 short films for “Tales from Mutantville,” we rented a jib and used it for all three. One word for having a jib on location would be…Awesome! It really makes your shots fluid and gives you lots of options. But once I discovered how much they cost I had one question…”How do I make a jib?”
If you’re like us you may not be able to drop $3000 or much more on a jib, so I did some research to find some more affordable methods of making a jib. These videos below will help you make a jib. Some are too flimsy to use with big cameras but you can make a jib that will support a smaller camera or a digital SLR.
