Freddy versus Jason versus Ash versus Johnny Brento’s JuJu

A Snap of a Starlet About to Get The Treatment in a RARE Fan Film that doesn’t suck!

Here at the Mutantville Mothership we have a special torture chamber equiped with the most devilished devices you can imagine, all to strip the flesh of anyone known to be the author of a (I don’t want to type this word for fear of the earth opening up and the hell mouth swallowing me) fan film! Uncle Streebo himself, serving as the high priest of fan film Haterology, has repeatedly stated in various vlogs our reasons for NOT supporting fan films. The biggest reason of all being that most all of them are unwatchable crap. Don’t even get me started on the lack of original vision because that’s an article unto itself.

(Checking the room for enforcer demons)This weekend, when a little bit of boredom begin to set in, I took a peep at a torrent filled with Horror Fan Films. True to form and as expected, 98% of the shorts fell under the fast forward button. Two of them films I did manage to get through were worth the watch. Today I’m going to talk about one of those, because I can’t just go around promoting fan films. Yuck!

For me a successful fan film will meet a few criteria.

  1. It will be competently shot and edited
  2. It will have at least suffer able acting and decent casting.
  3. ..and this is probably the most IMPORTANT one, NOT take itself too seriously!

Congrats to Trent Duncan for managing to produce an entertaining fan film which doesn’t suck. Sadly, his follow up to Freddy versus Jason versus Ash, Jason versus Leatherface did not hold to the standard of it’s predecessor. Ah well, he beat the odds with one effort so for that we give thanks!

  1. There is a certain amount of misreading of the Streebo message in this post as I am not a “hater” of any sort of fanfilm – but a believer in new works. Without new ideas there will be nothing for fans to make fanfilms of n’est-ce pas? Other than that – fine entry, young Brento.
