Looking at Speculative Fiction from Another Dimension.

True Blood, Rob Zombie, & Dr. Horrible on Fridays with MVP!

It’s FRIDAYYYYY!!!  Another work week is behind us and a weekend full of potential lies in the road before us!  Before you head out the door for a three day celebration of Bacchanalian proportions, MVP has your movie, TV and horror news to set you on the right path.  It’s been a busy week for MVP as we finalized the sound mix for Scarecrow At Midnight, designed a graphic t-shirt for Family Fiend and moved that much closer to completing the digital FX for Indigo Child.

Sad news came to the world last Thursday as master storyteller Gene Colan passed away.  MVP honored his memory by featuring his work on Collector’s Corner as well as Scary Movie Saturday. Look for Gene to be featured on Collector’s Corner again next week with a special look at his work on Tomb of Dracula.

MOVIE NEWS OF DOOM!!!

Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon opened this week.  Super 8 is still playing in theaters near you.  Green Lantern is still lighting up screens across the nation.  Genre films are alive and well.  Get out with your friends this weekend and enjoy the movie of your choice.  My suggestion is to go see Super 8 – AGAIN!  I’ve been to the theater twice to watch it and enjoyed it immensely both times.

Rob Zombie has posted some more cool behind the scenes pics for his latest flick Lords of Salem over at his official blog.  This time out – he’s showing us some of FX expert Wayne Toth’s prop work.  Check out the synopsis for Lords of Salem below:

“Heidi, a blonde rock chick, DJs at a local radio station, and together with the two Hermans (Whitey and Munster) forms part of the ‘Big H Radio Team.’

A mysterious wooden box containing a vinyl record arrives for Heidi, a gift of the Lords. She assumes it’s a rock band on a mission to spread their word. As Heidi and Whitey play the Lords’ record, it starts to play backwards, and Heidi experiences a flashback to a past trauma.

Later, Whitey plays the Lords’ record, dubbing them the Lords of Salem, and to his surprise, the record plays normally and is a massive hit with his listeners.

The arrival of another wooden box from the Lords presents the Big H team with free tickets, posters and records to host a gig in Salem. Soon, Heidi and her cohorts are far from the rock spectacle they’re expecting. The original Lords or Salem are returning and they’re out for blood.”

BLOOD ON YOUR TV SCREEN!!!

SCREAMING COMIC NEWS!!!

Garth Ennis creator of Preacher and Crossed is returning to horror with a fifteen minute short film entitled Stitched.  Ennis has long been a daring writer that challenged readers with his over the top black comedy, vicious satire and endless supply of fart jokes. One can only imagine how crazy his first attempt at filmmaking should be.  From the official website:

“Three little figures stagger across the desolate landscape. Their Blackhawk burning in the rocks and the rest of the crew gone with it, the trio must survive both the terrible conditions and the hostile attentions of the locals. But there are worse foes than Taliban fighters in this ancient land, as an old and terrible force arises to serve a twenty-first century evil.”
