From writer/director J.T.McRoberts:
“Scarecrow at Midnight came from MVP’s love of classic Halloween themed horror films. In 2010, Kenny Caperton, owner of the Myers House NC asked us to come up with something original to shoot in his home. Since Kenny’s house is a replica of the infamous Myers House from John Carpenter’s Halloween – he is constantly inundated with requests from filmmakers to shoot Michael Myers fanfilms at his home.
Kenny asked MVP to come up with an original idea to shoot there and Scarecrow at Midnight was the result. We combined a tight little script about a scarecrow slasher with a talented cast and a dedicated crew and spent two days at Kenny’s house shooting. The result is an engaging little Halloween themed slasher flick that has become a big hit with fans during the Halloween season. The short film premiered at the Nevermore Film Festival in 2011, and has gone on to play at conventions and festivals across the country – including a 2011 Halloween screening where it opened for a 35mm screening of Evil Dead.
It has become something that fans are associating with our favorite time of the year – Halloween. That means more to me than anything else in the world. Now with Scarecrow at Midnight being released to DVD this month on the Tales from Mutantville anthology – it seems only fitting that we screen it at the cinema – one last time.”
The Back Alley Film Series and Carolina Cinemas will play host to the final theatrical screening of Scarecrow at Midnight this Thursday October 11th. Don’t miss the show as the Mutantville Players will be on hand giving away plenty of door prizes including vintage Fangoria magazines, a rare signed Roger Corman print and plenty of copies of the Tales from Mutantville DVD. Pick up your copy of Tales from Mutantville or G.H.O.S.T. for the special in person price of $10 each or grab an MVP t-shirt for $13.
As if all of this MVP goodness wasn’t enough to give you your money’s worth – be sure to stick around for the special secret 35mm screening afterward! What better way to kick off the Halloween season that by spending a night at the theater with scarecrows, slashers and secrets! See you there.
