Charlotte, NC – The South’s premiere horror, sci-fi and fantasy convention – the Mad Monster Party – is returning on March 22nd – 24th, 2013. Last year’s convention saw the screening of several amazing works including the Fantastic Tales of the Unknown, Psychic Brats, and Patrick Rea’s Nailbiter which went on to win “Best Horror” and was reviewed in Fangoria magazine and has since gone on to win awards at festivals across the country. The official call for entries for the Second Annual Mad Monster Party Film Festival will not go out for another few months – so Mutantville.com and the Back Alley Film Series are getting the party started early as we announce the Mad Monster Party Carolina Challenge! We are looking for the best in horror, science fiction and fantasy short films from North and South Carolina. This event will give filmmakers from North and South Carolina a chance to enter the film festival early before the call for entries goes out to the rest of the world.
Winners will be announced during a special series of screening events with the Back Alley Film Series in Charlotte this October. The top three shorts will play as curtain raisers for the Back Alley Film Series in October. The winning short film will be granted free submission to the Mad Monster Party Film Festival 2013 and will be given a premiere screening time on Saturday March 23rd at the wildest genre event Charlotte has ever seen!
All entries for submission must be received no later than September 24th, 2012. The top films will be announced during the first week of October. The winner will be announced at the final October BAFS screening.
All submissions must be less than 20 minutes in length and must be entirely original works. All music, graphics, and intellectual properties must be original creations. Previous submissions to the Mad Monster Party Film Festival need not apply as we are looking for all new works for 2013.

What an awesome looking event. We have the Comicon out here in southern California which is cool. I like that this is smaller and specific to the monster niche. I can’t wait to 1) get my airline ticket 2) get my tickets to the event. Thanks for sharing this
The Mad Monster Party is a great event! Come join us next March if you can! The BBQ here is to die for. ; )
