The Mothership flag is at half mast again this week as we honor the passing of the great auteur Ken Russell (July 3, 1927 – November 27, 2001). Russell brought us such genre classics as Altered States, Whore, Liztomania, The Lair of the White Worm, Gothic and of course – The Devils. The Devils tells the story of the possession of the Nuns of Loudun.
Ken Russell’s film is audacious, graphic, disturbing and to some sacrilegious. To us it is a tour de force and a true work of art. If you have never seen the movie then do yourself a favor and check it out.
