Jeffrey Combs, Apollo 18 and Pull on Mutantville Mondays.

Welcome back to another Mutantville Mondays oh dear mutants.  We had another productive weekend as MVP moved several projects through various stages of production. LOCAL HORROR SCENE NEWS!!!

In local convention news, Jeffrey Combs the star of Re-animator, From Beyond and Star Trek: Enterprise has signed on as the big guest at next year’s ConCarolinas in Charlotte, NC.  In local horror news, our good friend James Ryan Gary is having the best month of his directorial career as he has in one week’s time released his first full length feature – the post-apocalyptic/zombie/western Devil’s Crossing on DVD and has also announced the impending release of his second feature Pull.  There’s a great article about James Ryan Gary’s Pull over at Fangoria.

“As opposed to DEVIL’S CROSSING, you won’t find any undead gunslingers in PULL. “Definitely no zombies in this one,” Gary says, “but we feel PULL has a lot more to offer and reaches out to a much broader horror fan base. PULL is an original rollercoaster of violence and suspense. There are some very grotesque torture sequences, special effects that are going to make you want to vomit and suspense that just keeps you guessing as to what is going to happen next.”

WORLD HORROR NEWS!!!

The Fright Night remake sipped in another $3 million to get it’s two week total up to a paltry$14,2007,000. The Guillermo Del Toro produced remake Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark came in at a disappointing $8,700,000 – only slightly better than both Conan and Fright Night grossed last week – but much lower than the $12 million or so it was projected to make at a minimum. Final Destination 5 is up to $37,000,000 and $28 million world-wide in it’s third week so it’s well on it’s way to making it’s money back.

Apollo 18 and Shark Night 3D are opening opposite one another this weekend so fans will have the option of choosing between twoApollo 18 Japanese One Sheet. very different types of horror films.  Shark Night 3D looks to be a mindless popcorn horror film with babes and blood aplenty whereas Apollo 18 looks to be the more atmospheric and Gothic of the two with it’s isolated moon setting.  Check out the exclusive clips below and decide which way you want to go this weekend.

You can check out clips from Apollo 18 over at Shock Till You Drop right now!
