Looking at Speculative Fiction from Another Dimension.

Friday Musings with MVP.

The big news in MVP land this week is that we have found an event at which to premiere the entire Tales From Mutantville anthology. We’ll release an official announcement very soon – but in the meantime be very happy. This is going to be an historic event and one people will remember for a long time to come. MVP is honored to be a part of it.

MVP would like to give a quick shout out of congratulations to our friends at Sharpe Edge Films and Last Call Pictures as they both have films that have been accepted to the upcoming Fright Night Film Fest in Kentucky. That’s right – Monomaniacal and Desdemona 6 will play at the show and the guest of honor is none other than the Master of Horror himself – John Carpenter! Congratulations, guys!

WORLD HORROR NEWS!!!

Quick rumblings from the horror realm reveal that The Crow reboot is still moving through pre-production and is likely to get a start date soon, The Hellraiser reboot/sequel Hellraiser: Revelations is on it’s way to DVD. Season Two of Robert Kirkman’s The Walking Dead on AMC is currently in production. And director Scott Glosserman states that he is working on a sequel to the very smart post-modern slasher – Behind the Mask: The Rise of Leslie Vernon. And somewhere along the way – Rob Zombie found time to shoot a commerical for Whoolite. Check it out here.

SCARY GAME DISCUSSION!!!

The eighth installment of the Silent Hill series was announced in April of 2010 – but the developers have been very – silent since then. The developers released some more exclusive footage at the recent E3 convention. Silent Hill Downpour tells the story of escaped prisoner Murphy Pendleton who finds himself stranded in that old familiar town of Silent Hill after his prison transfer bus goes off the road.

At MVP, we’re big fans of the Silent Hill series as it is quite simply the scariest game series ever created – in our humble opinion of course. Check out the footage from E3 in the clips below.

MOVIE TALK FOR THIS WEEKEND!!!

Green Lantern has been predicted to gross $71 million on it’s opening weekend. I’m a die hard super hero fan but if Green Lantern makes that much this weekend – it truly will be gross. I’ll probably get out to see the movie – but my expectations have been set extremely low. The characterization of Hal Jordan looks completely wrong from the trailer and Ryan Reynolds and his abs seems terribly out of place. Not since Keanu Reeves said “whoa” to Dracula has there been a movie so horribly miscast. I’ll save my judgement for after I see the movie – but my recommendation is that everyone go see Spielberg and Abrams’ Super 8 again!

AND NOW MORE SUPER 8!!!

Speaking of Super 8, the all spoiler discussion video over at the Mutantville Players Youtube account has taken off and is quickly nearing the 500 views mark. If you’ve seen Super 8, then take a minute to watch the video and join the discussion.
