In 1983 David Cronenberg released Videodrome starring James Woods, Deborah Harry (of Blondie fame) and Sonja Smits. IMDB describes Videodrome as, “A sleazy cable-TV programmer begins to see his life and the future of media spin out of control in a very unusual fashion when he acquires a new kind of programming for his station.” According to the grosses, it doesn’t look like it did very well. It had an estimated budget of $5,952,000. Looks like it grossed $2,120,439 in the US.
