American Horror Story is the Best Horror Show on TV & Streeborama!

American Horror Story on FX. Wednesdays at 10pm.

Welcome back to another edition of Streeborama, dear Mutants.  I recently had the honor of appearing as a guest on the Exploited Cinema podcast to discuss American Horror Story.  The podcast will drop this weekend so I thought I would get you ready by discussing American Horror Story today.

American Horror Story tells the tale of the Harmon family as they move from Boston to L.A. to try to rebuild their lives.  They take up residence in a newly renovated mansion that they later learn is none other than the world famous Murder House.  The Murder House has a long history of mysteries, murders and disappearances occurring within it’s walls.  Now the Harmons live there unaware that something evil lurks in the shadows around them.

That’s all you need to know about the show.  American Horror Story is a horror serial narrative at it’s finest and should be enjoyed from the first episode to the last – in that order.  The show features strong performances from the cast including Dylan McDermott as Ben Harmon, Connie Briton as his estranged wife Vivian, newcomer Evan Peters as the disturbed Tate and screen legend Jessica Lange as the inimitable Constance the neighbor.  Each episode features lush settings, gorgeous cinematography and intriguing horror homages that call to mind some of the great horror films of the past.  Series creators Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk cited Dark Shadows, The Shining and Rosemary’s Baby as influences.

American Horror Story is aptly named because it does indeed tell a variety of tales from the land of the red, white and blue including tales of misshapen children, evil doctors, murderous characters of all varieties and recent episode even featured the infamous Black Dahlia murder.  Simply put – American Horror Story is the best horror program on television today.  It may not have the cult following of True Blood or the ratings of The Walking Dead – but in terms of horror it puts both of those shows to bed.

Get yourself ready for the next episode by checking out my discussion of American Horror Story below.  The first three minutes of the video are spoiler free in case you have never seen it.  If you have seen the show then watch the whole thing and join the spoiler discussion at the end.  Download the Exploited Cinema podcast this weekend and listen to my guest appearance with host Bat32.
