Fright Night Film Fest 2012 MVP Recap with Bruce Campbell.

What’s up MVP!?! We’re back from another exhausting and exhilarating weekend at the Fright Night Film Fest and Fandom Fest in Louisville, KY. Technically it’s not Monday any more but for purposes of this post – it’s still Monday. Every week needs a Mutantville Monday to get things started right. Hopefully you won’t mind our lack of activity over the past few days as we gave you a mountain of content leading up to the Fright Night Film Fest. People must be enjoying the videos and the MVP Mutant Radio show because we are still receiving almost daily comments on both.

OK – enough of that – let’s talk Fright Night. We made the nine hour drive to Kentucky not only to promote the release of the Tales from Mutantville DVD and the Scarecrow at Midnight screening but Like most of our fellow fifteen thousand fans that descended upon the Galt Hotel for the weekend we had come to meet Bruce Campbell. Despite the fact that his time at the con was limited to Saturday – we were not disappointed. I opted not to get the autograph from Bruce mainly because I didn’t want to have to wait in line to buy a ticket. I decided to make my photo op my moment with Bruce and did my best to enjoy every second.

Bruce showed that he is a true showman and entertainer to the end. Our photo op time with Bruce was limited to roughly 12 – 15 seconds so we had to make every moment count. Knowing this was the case – Mr. Campbell did his part to put on a show for every moment that he was in Louisville. As we made our way through the Line From Hell that wound through the halls into the nice cool photo room where Bruce waited to meet us we had to make it past the last few guards and staff that were doing their best to keep things orderly and not harsh everyone’s buzz in the meantime. As soon as I made it into the photo op room – we were greeted by the one man Bruce Campbell show as he was talking and joking with everyone that joined him for a photo as well as playing to the entire room when anything funny happened. For my own part I walked up to Bruce who instantly complimented me on my spiffy kung fu jacket to which I replied that I had to look good for the king. He laughed and I went into my thanks for coming speech and tried to shake hands with Bruce. As we were both looking at each other while talking and walking around to the photo op position we missed shaking hands – I switched sides as directed by Bruce – both of us still talking and we went to shake hands again – still keeping eye contact and missed again. Bruce commented that we keep missing to which I said forget it we’ll just get the picture and we both laughed and then I shook his hand before I left. It was only a matter of seconds but it was a fun little encounter with one of my childhood heroes. And a moment I’ll never forget.

There was so much that happened over the weekend that it’s literally impossible to recount it all here. We still have to talk about all the cool fans we met and talked to about Scarecrow at Midnight and the Tales from Mutantville DVD not to mention our awesome trip to the Georgetown Drive In where we got to chat with Sid Haig and Tyler Mane! MVP stayed busy all weekend as we filmed the Q&A panel with Bruce Campbell as well as the panels for The Walking Dead and Buffy the Vampire Slayer. I recorded an epic MVP goes to Fright Night video as well as several exclusive interviews with Tommy Lee Wallace, Tyler Mane and Sid Haig! I’ll shoot a MVP Fright Night recap video to close out the show so I can recount the story of how we had to drive home over the mountains and through the thunderstorm from hell only to get home and find out that my personal internet connection is out. Great timing oh great ironic Fate as I have a ton of content to upload to the internet and no way to do it. Ah, the things we do to live the MVP life. But I wouldn’t have it any other way.
