Paranormal Activity (2007) – Modern Day Classic?

Paranormal Activity (2007)

It doesn’t even seem like that long ago when Paranormal Activity was in theaters. I remember it was only released to small batches of theaters at first. I believe only one place had it in Charlotte, NC. This was in 2009 if my memory serves me correctly. It looks like October of 2007 is when Paranormal Activity was shown at the Screamfest Film Festival. I do like how it was marketed. It was very cool to have the fans demand that it comes to their town.

Will you get scared after the leap…

According to Paramount Pictures, “After a young, middle class couple moves into a suburban ‘starter’ tract house, they become increasingly disturbed by a presence that may or may not be somehow demonic but is certainly most active in the middle of the night. Especially when they sleep. Or try to.” Those demonic presences, never let you sleep…how insensitive. I remember this movie seriously freaked some people out in the theaters.

Paranormal Activity was written and directed by Oren Peli. The film stars Katie Featherston, Micah Sloat and Mark Fredrichs. One thing I like to hear is that the budget was estimated to be $15,000 and it grossed $107,917,283 (USA). You have to love that return on investment!

Paranormal Activity 3 will be released on October 21, 2011. Looks like they took characters from Oren Peli but has another writer and director.
