“CHUD.com isn’t the best movie website in the world but it’s damn good!”
Chud.com is giving you a chance to win tickets to the advance screening of the Fright Night remake. Before we get to that – we have one hell of a disclaimer to get out there first!
Fright Night (1985) directed by Tom Holland and starring Chris Sarandon, William Ragsdale, Amanda Bearse, Stephen Geoffreys and Roddy McDowell is an undisputed modern vampire classic! Coupled with Lost Boys, Fright Night served to bring the vampire myth out of the dusty castles and into shiny suburbia! If you grew up in the 80’s and saw Fright Night – it’s impact on you will be undeniable and indelible!
That said – Dreamworks Studios is trying to recreate that impact for an entirely new generation. It’s blasphemy and unnecessary but it’s happening. Fright Night opens nationwide on August 19th and Chud.com is giving you the chance to be there!
I’m not thrilled about the remake – but I must admit that the casting is very intriguing. Colin Farrell will no doubt have fun with the Jerry Dandrige role and David Tennant should be a hoot as Peter Vincent. I’m willing to give it a chance based on the casting alone, besides Fright Night was already remade in the 80’s in the form of the almost as blasphemous Fright Night 2 so what difference does it make if they’re doing it again?

“almost as blasphemous Fright Night 2?” Fright Night 2 was a justified and bonefide sequel which aso featured fantastic casting, many from veterans of the first film. I dug it. Not as much as Fright Night, but still far from blasphemous!
Meh. Never cared for Fright Night 2. Feel free to do a review to expound upon it’s virtues if you like.
OK. I just saw where Tommy Lee Wallace directed Fright Night 2 so I’m willing to give it another chance. He was always the “little director that could” in my book.
