Happy Independence Day, my fellow Mutants! It’s been a hot weekend aboard the Mutantville Mothership as we’ve fired up the grill, threw on some steaks, and shot off some fireworks to celebrate the very awesomeness of the United States. We have a really big announcement coming for the Mutantville Players very soon but until then we’ll have to leave you guessing.
Fret not – for we have some cinema magic to sooth your soul. This July Fourth pop in that seminal shark classic that made everyone afraid to go into the water – Steven Spielberg’s JAWS! It’s the premiere summer holiday movie about a small town sheriff who tries to keep the populace under control as a great white shark intends to use the vacationers of Amity as his personal Fourth of July buffet!

OK. That wasn’t really the movie – but it was funny! Here’s the trailer. You’ll have to grab JAWS off your own damn shelf and watch it. Don’t worry – it will be worth the effort.

WORLD MOVIE NEWS FOR YOU!!!
Transformers 3: Dark of the Moon broke grammatical and box office records by claiming the all time Independence Weekend Gross Record at $162,125,000. It is worth noting that overall attendance was down by over ten percent from the initial Transformers film attendance. This means that the inflated ticket prices brought on by 3D have ballooned the gross far beyond what it should have been.
In much happier news, Super 8 has maintained it’s hold in the top ten by coming in just outside the top five at number six at box office for a total gross of $108 million and counting! Super 8 remains Streebo’s pick for sleeper blockbuster of the year and favorite movie of 2011. Seeing as how recent blockbuster efforts such as Pirates of the Caribbean and Green Lantern have already dropped out of the top five and behind Super 8 in daily grosses – it is a testament to the heart and charm of Abrams and Spielberg’s love letter to those kids’ adventure movies of the past. Go see it now, while it’s still in the theater. Take your kids. Take your Grandparents. It doesn’t matter. Super 8 is truly a movie for everyone.
Dario Argento has been releasing information from the set of his Dracula 3D to writer Alan Jones while daughter Asia Argento has been treating her twitter followers to a series of exclusive photos from the set. Check out the exclusive interview over at Shock Till You Drop!
