This week we focus on The Return of the Living Dead which was released in August of 1985. This film was directed by and the screenplay was written by none other than Dan O’Bannon. Mr. O’Bannon got his start when he and John Carpenter collaborated on Dark Star. He also wrote the story and screen play for Alien, two stories for the film Heavy Metal (“Soft Landing” and “B-17”), Blue Thunder, the screenplays for Lifeforce, Total Recall, Screamers, Bleeders, etc… Another reason I picked this film is because it stars none other than the very awesome Clu Gulager. If you follow Mutantville, you’ll know we were all fans of season 3 of Project Greenlight. Clu Gulager was great in that show. A true artist with great passion for his craft. According to IMDB, Mr. Gulager’s first TV appearance was on The United States Steel Hour in 1956. He played Billy the Kid in The Tall Man TV series, Sherriff Emmett Ryker in The Virginian, and too many to name really. He has 158 titles currently. That’s including this parts as Bartender in the 3 Feast films. He was also in Piranha 3DD film as well (which would be expected after the big deal the show made about him hiring his family. Personally I don’t see a problem hiring people you know can do the job.) The film also stars James Karen, Don Calfa, Thom Matthews, Beverly Randolph, John Philbin, Jewel Shepard, Miguel Nunez, Brian Peck and Linnea Quigley.

The Return of the Living Dead is about a pair of bumbling employees at a medical supply company that accidentally release a gas that causes the dead to come back and look for brains to eat.
