Special makeup FX illusionist Todd A. Britt reveals latest sculpt for the Metatron Files.
Firstly, my dear Mutants, there’s no video this week. I actually created one but in the excitement of a new contract I just landed which will take me back to my beloved world of Financial Institution IT, the drive holding it got left at home. Not one to disappoint I wanted to forge ahead with a quick article update. I hope that’s ok, my friends. Even Johnny Brento has to succumb to good ole “Real Life” sometimes.
Since you last heard the gleeful voice of ol J.B., I have seen The Avengers, not once but twice. What a movie. Let me say that again to convey my proper level of enthusiasm. WHAT A MOVIE!!!!! If you haven’t yet, be sure to get yourself to the cinema this week sometime to catch it on the big screen. Otherwise, any Marvel fan would really be doing themselves a disservice. The movie was great all the way around! In fact, Streebo and myself spent the bulk of this weeks MVP Mutant Radiobroadcast discussing just that topic.
The Avengers (2012)
There’s also a new “Making Metatron” Vlog update coming your way soon. I’m may double up one day this week just to maintain my “at least one MutantTV video per week” schedule.
In the meantime you can check out an alternate take of Absolute Zero (featuring yours truly and Todd A. Britt)’s performance from Muticia’s Morgue on the official AZ Youtube Channel. The footage has been quickly comped and not in way shape or fashion similar to what you’ll seen in the program. It’s just for fun so check it out if you like having your face melted with original Alt Rock!
The boys are back in town. Bog Zombie Jeremy Mullis, Mutie and Todd A. Britt take a break between takes.
Welcome back to the Mutantville Mothership for another edition of Fridays with MVP! It’s been another busy week here on Mutantville.com as we’ve been pulling footage from the recent Muticia’s Movie Morgue “Zombie Day” shoot from last week – and there’s a brand new MP3 on my desktop which contains the final version of the score for G.H.O.S.T. by Martin Bowes of Attrition. This weekend, the first installment of Tales from Mutantville – our little neo-slasher lovingly titled – Scarecrow At Midnight – will play during the Blood On The Beach Film Festival in Virginia.

This week on Scary Movie Saturday we’re featuring a new release that we stumbled across on Youtube - We Need To Talk About Kevin. We Need To Talk About Kevin is currently making a limited theatrical run across the US. We’ve been hearing nothing but good things about We Need To Talk About Kevin ever since it hit the festival circuit this past year.
We Need To Talk About Kevin tells the story of Kevin’s mother as she struggles to love her strange child, despite the increasingly vicious things he says and does as he grows up. But Kevin is just getting started, and his final act will be beyond anything anyone imagined.
No you didn’t misread the title. It does indeed say Stanley Kubrick Saturday. Last night, Streebo made the pilgramage out to Retrofantasma at the Carolina Theatre to see Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining in 35mm.
To honor this momentous event in which Streebo experienced his first Stanley Kubrick theatrical viewing with a packed theater – we are changing Scary Movie Saturday to Stanley Kubrick Saturday for one day! Ironically – we’re going to feature a Stanley Kubrick film that he didn’t get the chance to direct. He did however produce the movie and design it before handing it over to Steven Spielberg.
Stanley Kubrick circa Eyes Wide Shut
Spielberg initially refused to direct the project feeling unworthy of directing a Stanley Kubrick film. After Kubrick passed in 1999, Spielberg took up the task of seeing A.I. through to completion in honor of his friend. So that leads us to today.
Streebo got to experience the glory of The Shining in 35mm last night so we’re going to celebrate with some Kubrick today. I couldn’t find any other Stanley Kubrick films posted on Youtube so A.I. it is. In true guerrilla filmmaking spirit we’ve tied it all together to honor the occasion.
Here’s to the greatest filmmaker of all time – Stanley Kubrick. This is A.I.Artificial Intelligence on Stanley Kubrick Saturday!
It’s time for another Monday morning Mutantville Player roll call! Streebo! Geo! Brento! Toddo! No wait that’s not right. I think he’s Mega-Todd or Dr.Savini or something like that but it breaks the name-plus-o convention that we have going. Anyway – we’re all here and accounted for after another long hard weekend making the best in genre entertainment that the Planet Earth has to offer.
When I hold up my Majic Spyglass I can see all the Mutants sitting at home with us. I see Kathy and Catherine. Jason and Dave. There’s Super-K and Angela. Oh – I see Kayli and Meghan and Janice and Ruff. Hey – there’s Kat and Matthew and I even see you! Looks like we’re all accounted for.
Now let’s strap in and put our bits in place because the Mutantville Mothership is about to blast off. We’re headed for the five oblong corners of the Internet and there’s no coming back. Since it’s easy to get lost along the way – here’s your Mutantville Signal Watch with built in Quantum Compass to help you no matter which plane of existence that you find yourself currently residing. Here. We. GO!!!

Arri Lights- I'll take that one and that one and...
I’ve been thinking about what to focus on this week. After filming this weekend, I am thinking about lighting…so…here are some film lighting tips from various blogs and YouTube. Hope you find these useful!
Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn on Scary Movie Saturday.
Last week, we featured Army of Darkness aka Evil Dead 3 on Scary Movie Saturday – so we thought what better movie to follow that up with than the movie that came before it - Evil Dead 2: Dead By Dawn! (watch the full movie after the leap!)
MacReady like Streebo surveys the wreckage of the prequel fallout.
In the interest of being fair and balanced like Fox News here aboard the Mutantville Mothership I thought we would take a look at some more reviews for the prequel to John Carpenter’s 1982 classic The Thing. I posted my review of The Thing (2011) here and on Youtube and have been fielding comments from across the web about the film ever since. It is interesting to note that not everyone shares my enthusiasm about the film. In the interest of showing all sides of horror fandom, I’ve decided to share some comments from the trolls and haters that I’ve gathered from across the internet.

Welcome to the first edition of Streeborama here on the MVP Blog! This week, we’re experimented with making actual personal blog posts for a change to give you all a feel for the individual voices here on the Mutantville Mothership. I decided that I’m a bit tired of writing up articles all the time so I figured I’d just shoot a v-log and post that instead – so that’s exactly what I did.
The next thing I know, it’s approaching midnight and I’m doing fine edits on G.H.O.S.T. at the same time that I’m editing this v-log. How that happened I have no idea but it had to be done. So sit back – turn on the old Youtube and fire up Streebo’s V-log to learn all the latest happenings with Tales From Mutantville, G.H.O.S.T. and the MVP Blog – here on Mutantville.com.
This week on Scary Movie Saturday we’re bringing you a classic work from Mario Bava – Black Sunday! Black Sunday is the definitive 60′s Gothic horror film starring Scream Goddess Barbara Steele and featuring a chilling opening sequence and stark painterly black and white compositions throughout. True fans of the horror genre need no explanation for this one as Mario Bava is revered far and wide and here on the Mutantville Mothership he holds a lofty position amongst the Patron Saints of Guerrilla Filmmaking.
