We’re changing gears slightly again this week as we focus not on a movie – but a video game. This is the last video game to bear Clive Barker’s name and although there was a planned sequel nothing has come of it meaning that Barker’s fans who want more video games from him will have to make do with Clive Barker’s Undying from 2002 and Jericho from 2007. Clive Barker’s Jericho tells the story of a black ops squad called Jericho consisting of a variety of sorcerous and psychic commandos and their battle to keep the demonic Firstborn from bursting through inter-dimensional gates into our world.
Sounds epic doesn’t it? Well it is epic! You get to play a variety of these black ops agents in what is best described as Gears of War meets Silent Hill on acid. It’s an endless assault from beginning to end and is powered by a great mythology laid out by Barker.
Happy holidays from your friendly neighborhood Mutantville Players! This week, we thought we would try something different as a special Christmas treat for everyone. Instead of featuring a scary movie – we thought we would go with a scary video game – the scariest video game of 2010 in fact – Alan Wake for the XBOX 360. Alan Wake tells the story of acclaimed horror writer Alan Wake and his trip to get away from it all in the secluded Northeastern town of Bright Falls. Alan Wake is quite simply the best horror game that I’ve played all year and I can’t wait to play through it again on a more difficult setting. I’ve talked about it enough already, you’re just going to have to take a look for yourself.
Matthew Ewald and Luis Machicao make miracles happen on the set of Athena.
The Mutantville Players are in a bit of downtime as we quietly put the finishing touches on G.H.O.S.T. to get it ready for the theaters and the eventual DVD release. In between the work we’re trying to relax as Brento is off to play gigs this weekend, Geo is tangoing to a studio near you and Streebo is playing Alan Wake on XBOX 360. We’ve collected a few cool vids for you to check out for fun, reviews and more – only on Fridays with MVP!
This week, the official countdown to the Fright Night Film Fest and John Carpenter is on! It’s less than two weeks away – and counting! Over the past few weeks, the already stellar lineup has only improved with the addition of horror icon Linda Blair and one time T2 star – Edward Furlong! It was just announced on the Fright Night Film Fest Facebook fanpage this morning that there will be a special showing of Halloween and Chained Heat in 35mm at the Georgetown Drive-In on Saturday night! Those of you keeping up with our horror hostess spotlight over the past week will be happy to know that Ivonna Cadaver from Macabre Theatre will be in attendance as well! Keep up to date with the final additions as they come in by checking out the official website here. Buy your tickets now before it’s too late.
HORROR ON THE SILVER SCREEN!!!
The website for maestro of horror Dario Argento’s Dracula 3D is now officially in operation! Check out the website for the full synopsis, photos, and behind the scenes tidbits. With the popularity of violent vampire shows like True Blood on the rise – there should be a warm reception for Argento’s latest effort when it finally hits the screen.
(Get your Dexter, Arkham City, Scream Queens and Mimic Blu Ray news after the leap!)
According to the rumor mill – the new downloadable content from Call of Duty Black Ops will feature zombie in the legendary Area 51! Over the years, Area 51 has long been a favorite of conspiracy theorists who fantasize about UFOs, aliens and Nazis drilling their way to the Hollow Earth below – when in reality it’s probably just the spot where the military burns nuclear waste like a redneck burning plastic trash in his back yard. Well you’re about to find out what is going on when the new Black Ops content goes live!
Check out this great video featuring the amazing, surreal and sadomasochistic visual stylings from Clive Barker’s video game masterpiece - JERICHO. The video is in German – so you’re safe from too many spoilers – unless you speak German that is.

Streebo has been finding time to relax between shooting and producing G.H.O.S.T. by kicking back with Silent hill: Homecoming on the XBOX 360. This is the first Silent Hill game that I’ve been able to play for an extended period of time despite the fact that I’ve owned Silent Hill 1 through 3 over the years. The new controls make the game more user friendly for a geek like me that enjoys more action oriented games. Needless to say – the atmosphere and visuals rule the day in Silent Hill. I love the look, sound and feel of this game and find myself addicted to it. Enjoy some Silent hill craziness with me by watching this video featuring some of the more interesting villians of the series of games.
