Tales From Mutantville shirt design from Fast Custom Shirts.

Happy Friday, mutants!  Like the song says – everybody’s working for the weekend – and thank Muticia that weekend is finally here!  This week – our good friend and favorite crazy injun Teeshirtjoe from Fastcustomshirts.com unleashed his design for the upcoming Tales From Mutantville t-shirt.  Joe took our baroque EC comics inspired design for the Tales From Mutantville DVD and brought out all the little details to create a truly kick ass shirt design that is sure to hit big with all the little Mutants out there.

The MutantvilleMothership has been abuzz with activity over the past week as we’ve continued to screen a ton of great indie flicks for the upcoming Mad Monster Party Film Fest and have moved several projects through various stages of production.

Post-production continues as we work to get the final Tales From Mutantville DVD ready for the upcoming Mad Monster Party next month.  The score is still being crafted for the final version of G.H.O.S.T. and as those projects wind down – others are picking up.  The first episode of Muticia’s Movie Morgue looms on the horizon as does the launch of production on our proposed web series The Metatron Files

Metatron Files – New Project Kickoff on Johnny Brento’s JuJu

For those of you waiting to hear of a new Mutantville project, your wait is over. After spending 2011 clearing the books as it were, completing previously shot projects, holding screenings and the like, we’re back to another year of shooting projects. Among those projects is the one I’m announcing today.

The Metatron files will be MVP’s foray into the unknown universe of Dark Fantasy & Sci Fi. We’re all nerds here. Being such of course we love shows like Supernatural and The X-Files where the forces of good and evil arel ocked in pitched battle eac hand every week. We wanted to try our hand at something similar, albeit a web series. The pilot (It Begins Again), as per our usual modus operandi will be the entire season in mirco-cosum, so that it can serve as a complete story in itself.

Once more, we’ll carry the Mutant TV viewer along with us as we include behind the scenes coverage from inception to final release. The production will hold an open casting call for regional thespians for the episode set to shoot in late April/ early May 2012.

Men in Black, Weapons of Mass Destruction and scantily clad demon babes from hell. What is not to love, Mutants?!!!

You can follow the progress on Mutantville.com as well as on the official fan page, or simply check back each week for another “Making Metatron” video for vicarious film making enjoyment!

The MVP Guide To The Galaxy, The Walking Dead and The Immortals Rule on Mutantville Mondays!

AZ is down with MVP. Absolute Zero circa 2011.

It’s time for another Monday morning Mutantville Player roll call!  Streebo!  Geo!  Brento!  Toddo!  No wait that’s not right.  I think he’s Mega-Todd or Dr.Savini or something like that but it breaks the name-plus-o convention that we have going.  Anyway – we’re all here and accounted for after another long hard weekend making the best in genre entertainment that the Planet Earth has to offer.

When I hold up my Majic Spyglass I can see all the Mutants sitting at home with us.  I see Kathy and Catherine.  Jason and Dave.  There’s Super-K and Angela.  Oh – I see Kayli and Meghan and Janice and Ruff.  Hey – there’s Kat and Matthew and I even see you!  Looks like we’re all accounted for.

Now let’s strap in and put our bits in place because  the Mutantville Mothership is about to blast off.  We’re headed for the five oblong corners of the Internet and there’s no coming back.  Since it’s easy to get lost along the way – here’s your Mutantville Signal Watch with built in Quantum Compass to help you no matter which plane of existence that you find yourself currently residing.   Here.  We. GO!!!

(Get your MVP guide to the galaxy and more after the leap!)

ConCarolinas 2011 with Brinke Stevens, Ghost Trek, & the Mutantville Players.

This past weekend (June 3 – 5th, 2011), ConCarolinas held it’s tenth annual convention in Charlotte.  The featured guests included Harry Turtledove, Conor McCullagh, Brinke Stevens, Addy Miller of The Walking Dead and the cast & crew of Ghost Trek.

The Mutantville Players have attended ConCarolinas for the past six years in a row.  Last year was our first time submitting one of our short films – Devil Comes Down – to the film festival.  This year marked our first appearance as guests at the convention.  Charlotte has been home to the Mutantville Mothership for years – and we were proud to attend a con on our native soil.  We had plenty of friends come out to show support and built several new friendships along the way.

Superhero fanboys can join the fun by watching the greatest superhero movie of all time – Superman the Motion Picture.  Superman represents everything America is supposed to be at it’s best. Watch it and feel inspired.

Enjoy your Memorial Day, MVP!  We’ll see you at ConCarolinas Friday night for the Charlotte debut of Respawner the Web Series episode one.

Brinke Stevens, John Carpenter, ConCarolinas & Fright Night in MVP Sights!

This is Streebo, your resident Doctor of Horror, and I’m back with another Mutantville Monday update!

Join us at ConCarolinas on June 3rd at 7pm for a special screening of Respawner the Web Series Pilot episode.  Come out and show your support for fantasy, science fiction and horror with MVP.  Special guests at ConCarolinas include MVP, Ghost Trek and Brinke StevensBRINKE STEVENS!!!  If that doesn’t make your toes curl then you’re no friend of mine!

Looking for news on G.H.O.S.T. – then check out the latest post-production v-log:

And here’s out latest update from over the weekend as we prepared the underscore for Scarecrow At Midnight in the hopes to have the final score ready for viewing at ConCarolinas.  Scarecrow At Midnight will be screened as part of the film festival that weekend along with Michael Sharpe’s Monomaniacal and other fantastic entries.

In the world of horror, fans are gearing up for the new release from John Carpenter – The Ward – which hits theaters on July 8th! MVP is planning a trip to Kentucky for this year’s awesome Fright Night Film Festival with none other than the Master of Horror himself – John Carpenter. Be sure to check out our multi-part interview with Ken Daniels – promoter of Fright Night Film Fest and Fandom Fest:

True Blood season 4 is about to start this summer.  Teaser vids have been hitting the internetz every week.

The truly bad ass Mortal Kombat Legacy vids are continuing to bloody the Internet.  Be sure to check them out.

The sleeper supernatural thriller from James Wan – Insidious – is about to hit it’s DVD release date on July 12.  The movie itself is still playing in some theaters.  If you haven’t seen it yet – get out and watch what has been to this point the best horror release of 2011.

Rob Zombie is currently shooting his latest horror flick – Lords of Salem.  Reports from the set say that it is very FX heavy.  I’m glad to see Zombie going back to original works now so his work won’t be subjected to such idiotic scrutiny prior to it’s release as happened with his Halloween films.  I still blame that idiot at AICN “Quint” for starting that snowball rolling with his moronic review of Zombie’s Halloween script.  Yes, this is what’s called carrying a grudge.  I keep bringing that crap up four years later.  It was in effect the Gulf of Tonkin incident for Horror Fandom at which point the entire community’s head disappeared up it’s own ass.  See my review “Rob Zombie’s Halloween is  a Kick Ass Remake” for my thoughts on that frustrating time period in horror.

Stellarcon 35 Respawner Screening In Review- Mutantville Monday

Welcome to another Mutantville Monday. Here in Mutantville, the sky is always filled with ominous clouds, but today there is cause for celebration. Respawner – The Web Series had a very special screening of it’s pilot episode this past weekend at Stellarcon 35. Anytime, something which once only existed in the demented minds of MVP slips over into our version of reality, it’s a special day. As my old man used to say, “Nothing worth doing is ever easy.”

We had a nice turnout for the screening. With no exaggeration whatsoever, I’m pleased to report that words like, “Amazing”, “Incredible” and “Extremely Talented” were being used to describe Respawner and Mutantville Productions. It was humbling and truly satisfying.

Todd A. Britt’s Respawner makeup was a “high point” (If you will pardon the pun as the screening was held in High Point, NC) producing an audible reaction from the viewers when first revealed on screen. One female audience member actually let out a small scream which definitely made me smile. Often, Todd’s work goes by in an instant on screen despite being very laborious to produce. In Respawner this is not the case. The program was always intended to be a real makeup effects heavy work and an opportunity to feature what our in house make-up guru can produce. You get to see the creature a LOT in this first installment.

During a very notable FX sequence, orchestrated by Toe Tag Effects, Gregory Hewitt and team, I glanced over and saw several attendee’s on the front row with huge grins on their faces.

The score was also commented on by viewers as being particularly effective. CutshawKane was represented at the screening by co-composer Brad Hord. We were definitely proud to have Brad in attendance. I think it’s a safe bet to presume there’ll be more from this dynamic team of musicians in future installments of the web series.

For my first directorial effort, I really felt validated to have such a warm reception. During the Q & A, the very first question was, “When will there be another?” I wanted to quote Fagan from Ep1 and proclaim, “Now, woah! Woah! Let’s not lose our shit here, Lady.” My answer was of course, “It depends on the interest we receive.” That is in fact a conversation for another Monday. This Monday we are celebrating the realization of Respawner – The Web Series. I feel like everyone’s hard work as really paid off in a pilot we can all be proud of.

Scary Movie Saturdays comes to Stellarcon 35 with Respawner!

Scary Movie Saturdays comes to Stellarcon 35 with Respawner! The Mutantville Players were live and in living color this weekend at the Stellarcon 35 convention in High Point, North Carolina. MVP was on hand to spread the good word of horror to the fans in attendance.

The Mutantville Players screened a fantastic selection of independent horror films including Milton, Bursters, Devil Comes Down, The Promise Jar, and the trailers for Be There In Ten and G.H.O.S.T. There was a short Q&A session between films and it all led up to the special sneak preview screening of Respawner: The Web Series Pilot. Fans in attendance said the experience was just “awesome.”

Mutantville Productions would like to thank everyone that came out to support the screening as well as to Davey and his volunteers hosting the Stellarcon 35 convention.

Included on the evening’s playlist was Robert W. Filion’s The Promise Jar. It’s a very Lovecraftian short film with a tightly packed three minute run time. It is available for viewing right now on Vimeo! Wait are you waiting for? It’s Stellarcon 35 weekend! The movie is scary. And most of all – it’s free! It’s Scary Movie Saturday!
