Clive Barker’s Jericho on Scary Movie Saturday!

Clive Barker's Jericho (2007)

We’re changing gears slightly again this week as we focus not on a movie – but a video game. This is the last video game to bear Clive Barker’s name and although there was a planned sequel nothing has come of it meaning that Barker’s fans who want more video games from him will have to make do with Clive Barker’s Undying from 2002 and Jericho from 2007. Clive Barker’s Jericho tells the story of a black ops squad called Jericho consisting of a variety of sorcerous and psychic commandos and their battle to keep the demonic Firstborn from bursting through inter-dimensional gates into our world.

Sounds epic doesn’t it? Well it is epic! You get to play a variety of these black ops agents in what is best described as Gears of War meets Silent Hill on acid. It’s an endless assault from beginning to end and is powered by a great mythology laid out by Barker.

Watch the game after the leap!

The Walking Dead, Prometheus, & Guillermo Del Toro’s Insane on Mutant TV Roundup for Mutantville Mondays!

Director J.T.McRoberts with actor Kayli Tolleson in front of the G.H.O.S.T. one sheet.

It’s been another busy weekend for the Mutantville Players.  We’ve spent another week tweaking and reviewing the final cut of G.H.O.S.T. as well as fending off a constant onslaught of requests from the cast for advance copies of the G.H.O.S.T. DVD.  We’re still working hard to complete G.H.O.S.T. in addition to the putting the final touches on Indigo Child to complete the long awaited DVD construction of Tales From Mutantville.

With all of this activity going on – we’re going to have to leave you in the warm embrace of the glow from your PC screen as Mutant TV takes you across the globe and back for a look at all things happening in the world of speculative fiction.  We have clips from The Walking Dead, Game of Thrones, the Alien prequel Prometheus, Guillermo Del Toro’s video game Insane, TV spots for Stephen King’s Bag of Bones and the latest trailer for the horror TV show – The River.

Check it all out after the leap!

Final Destination 5 Dies at B.O. and Freddy Krueger slashes up Mortal Kombat on Mutantville Mondays!

We had a busy weekend aboard the Mutantville Mothership this weekend. We moved several projects through various stages of production and had a blast doing it. We’re gearing up to get Tales From Mutantville onto DVD and Blu Ray as well as putting the final touches on G.H.O.S.T. to get it ready for the Fall. Lots of fun things are coming down the pipe for MVP and we thank you all for being a part of it!

FINAL DESTINATION 5 STALLS AT BOX OFFICE GATES!!!

The horror season is off to a slow start as Final Destination 5 stalls at the box office gates this weekend with a lowly take of $18 million.  Still, $18 million is better than the $11 million that Grindhouse gained during it’s entire theatrical run so perhaps third place at the box office is not necessarily so bad.  The movie is out late in the Summer season but early enough in the fall season to still be lurking in theaters and dollar theaters come Halloween.  This Halloween season is packed as each weekend becomes a battleground for the horror top spot with Fright Night coming this week, followed by Red State, Apollo 18, Don’t Be Afraid of the Dark and Paranormal Activity 3 over the coming months.

John Carpenter Master of Horror

It’s one week until MVP meets John Carpenter at this year’s Fright Night Film Fest in Kentucky.  We thought we would honor the occasion by focusing on the man, the myth, the auteur John Carpenter this week on Classics Corner.  We’re going to take a look at his movies, his musical scores and even his recent ventures into video game territory with the F.E.A.R. series.

Tribute to Clive Barker's Jericho on XBOX 360.

Check out this great video featuring the amazing, surreal and sadomasochistic visual stylings from Clive Barker’s video game masterpiece -  JERICHO.  The video is in German – so you’re safe from too many spoilers – unless you speak German that is.

Saw (Video Game, XBox) Review.

From ShockTillYouDrop:  While just about every major horror franchise has gotten a videogame (NES gave us the legendarily hard Friday the 13th and “4 Player” Nightmare on Elm St. games in the late ‘80s; Atari had Halloween and Texas Chainsaw Massacre… things they called games), Saw is possibly the only one that would contextually make sense in video game form. Half of the genre games released nowadays start off with someone trapped somewhere without knowing why (like most of the Saw films have), and the series’ locales are the same sort of burnt out warehouses, dungeons, and dilapidated houses that most survival games take place in anyway. In short, it’s no surprise Saw: The Video Game exists, only that it took this long to hit consoles.

Taking place between the first and second films, you play as Detective Tapp (Danny Glover in the first film, but looking/sounding like a much younger guy here thanks to Glover’s refusal to lend his likeness), who Jigsaw apparently took the time to save from his seemingly fatal wounds at the end of the first film. You wake up with a trap on your head, and once you get it off (not very hard), you begin a six to eight hour journey through the halls and rooms of an abandoned insane asylum, avoiding as many traps as you can while pursuing Jigsaw (whose identity is still unknown at this point in the Saw narrative) and occasionally rescuing other characters.
