The Funhouse – This Week on the Horror

This week on The Horror, Johnny Brento shares his enthusiasm for the film, “Funhouse” and also proudly displays the one sheet from his now famous poster collection. This Tobe Hooper directed effort came to us from 1981. And featured a very game cast.

Synopsis: Two young couples on a double date go to a mysterious carnival. As a prank they decide to spend the night in the funhouse. When they witness a brutal murder, they suddenly find themselves in horrific danger.

Tagline: Something is alive in the funhouse…something that, tonight, will turn the funhouse into a carnival of terror!

Insidious (2011) Review

“It’s not the house that’s haunted!”

That’s the tagline to the new haunted house horror film from the producer of Paranormal Activity and writer and director of SAWInsidious.  James Wan directs this tight little spookshow about a young family trying to cope with the effects of unwanted supernatural presences in their lives.

Be on the lookout for a nice supporting role from ghost assault survivor Barbara Hershey (The Entity) as the supportive mother that calls in the psychic to help out.  Insidious pays homage to all of the great haunted house films of the past and keeps the audience jumping and guessing from beginning to end.  Streebo gives Insidious a 7 out of 10 on the Streebo Scream-o-meter. Go see it while you can!

Streebo’s Mid-week B-movie Poster Watch: The Amityville Horror!

This week – Streebo’s B-movie poster watch takes a look at the classic poster art for the “based on a atrue story” horror film that shocked the nation in the late Seventies – The Amityville Horror!  This spooky poster features the classic evil house taking up the entirety of the composition – with the classic tag line screaming down the middle of the poster, “for God’s sake, get out!”  This simple design does it’s job well by creating a tone of dread by using the imposing image of the house juxtaposed against the urgency of the tagline.  If you like what you see – this poster can be yours!  Follow the link below to eBay and place your bid now!

Synopsis: After facing the gruesomeness of war in the Middle East, a weary and jaded Val Worthington returns home to his sister Alex. Despite much protest, Alex ropes Val into camping in the mountains for the weekend with her and her college friends. Instead of finding fun and adventure, the group stumbles upon something so ghastly it would give the Boogeyman nightmares.

Carolina Filmworks and Image Impact Group are currently seeking professional and experienced actors for a trailer for the upcoming Feature film ABOMINATIONS. The trailer will be used to secure funds for the project. While there are several roles available for the feature we are only casting three roles at this time. Please note that because this is an investor trailer, work is on a volunteer basis. However it is our hope that in casting the trailer we will also have our leads cast!

Only submit if you fit the breakdowns below. Anyone not fitting descriptions below will not be considered. Note: these are the three lead characters.

David Arkem: Male/30+/ 6’7”(will consider over 6’3”)/Massive but not overweight/Gruff voice/Sadistic/Grizzly/Intimidating…our Boogeyman. (Think Kane Hodder)

Alex Worthington: Female/22 Younger sister of Val. Caring and nurturing she worries about her brother’s state of mind post war. All American girl next-door type, unassuming but more than meets the eye.

Val Worthington: Male/25 War torn soul that returns home somewhat detached from the life he once loved. Loyal but cynical. Would prefer to be left alone.

The location for auditions is not yet set and will most likely be February 13th.

Please follow submission directions to be considered:

Again, only submit if you fit the above breakdown.
