Rejoice, Mutantville Players for the time is almost upon us! Last October, MVP set out to film not one – but three new short films for the Tales From Mutantville collection. Next week, the first installment will debut at the Twelfth Annual Nevermore Film Festival.
Scarecrow at Midnight will premiere on Saturday the 19th at 12pm during the short film block entitled “When the Stars Begin to Fall.” Also playing at Nevermore during the same film block is Robert W. Filion’s (D.P. on Scarecrow At Midnight) award winning short See The Dead. Have your cameras ready as the filmmakers will be involved in a Q&A session following the screenings.
The writer and director of Scarecrow At Midnight, J.T.McRoberts, stated that “I’m thrilled that Scarecrow At Midnight was accepted into the Nevermore Film Festival. I consider myself a “Retro Regular” and attend shows at the Carolina Theatre in Durham all the time. The Nevermore Film Festival has always been the premiere horror festival in North Carolina and to have our movie make it into the Festival is a real dream come true.”
The Mutantville Players will be on hand to enjoy the sights and sounds of the festival throughout the weekend. On Saturday, MVP is gathering together to go see Friday the 13th at 2:10pm, followed by The Silence of the Lambs at 4:20pm, then we’ll grab sushi in town and make it back by 8:10pm for El Monstro Del Mar and after all of that, we’ll top off the night by watching the alien abduction flick Unaware at 11:01pm!
The latest order for Mutantville.com t-shirts went out today which included the classic G.H.O.S.T. shirt as well as the new designs for Scarecrow At Midnight and Devil Comes Down. They will be available for pick up at the Nevermore Film Festival from your favorite Mutantville Player.
In CFC local news, our good friends at Quiet No More Pictures wrapped their post-apocalyptic faith based film My Name Is Paul over the weekend. Congratulations to director Trey Ore and his talented cast. MVP is very eager to see the final product!

We’ve had another busy weekend at the offices of Mutantville.com this past week. Since we finished the first cut of G.H.O.S.T. at the beginning of January – we’ve been working feverishly to complete the script for new scenes and contact all of our principle players about the possibility of returning to shoot more scenes. We are happy to announce that the entire cast has agreed to return to shoot new scenes. We’ve been lining up locations, working out new ideas and continuing with the post-production process on the visual FX of G.H.O.S.T.
Writer/director J.T. McRoberts has been working hard on the script for the new scenes and will soon send it out to the actors. He states that while the new script is all but finished – there are still one or two lines of dialogue that would – as Mark Borchardt might say -“make the pope weep” so he’s trying to iron those rough spots out first. McRoberts states “I always want my scripts to knock your you-know-what in the dirt – so there’s never a rush even when we’re pressed for time. I promise this is the final revision. It’s go time. We’re eager to get everyone back in front of the camera.”
Be on the look out for another edition of On The Red Carpet with Catherine Trail and Charlotte Web Video. Mutantville’s own Streebo , Geo Swanko and actor Jack Stecher were on hand to talk to Catherine about the progress of G.H.O.S.T. and the upcoming projects at Mutantville.com. Look for the video to be posted soon courtesy of Charlotte Web Video.
Big things lay ahead for Mutantville in the coming month. The first official G.H.O.S.T. t-shirt will soon be made available to the cast and crew. More details on that soon. Be sure to keep checking back as we update you on the
progress of ABOMINATIONS from Image Impact Group and take you to see limited screenings of The Howling. Be with us as we howl for the premiere of The Wolfman and come along for the ride as we give you a guided tour of the upcoming Horrorhound convention in Indianapolis featuring the screening of NIGHTBREED uncut!
Phew! All this and 2010 is just barely getting started.

After another long session of editing, our intrepid adventurers Streebo and Brento strapped on their thinking caps and did their best to come up with a few more poster and shirt designs for the promotion of G.H.O.S.T.. Our plan is to come up with as many as possible until we find the right combination that everyone is happy with. Of course as with most things – the first are usually the best – but we will keep trying until we find that magical combination. MVP has bigger battles to fight at the moment as we are marching towards our final date with destiny in front of the camera for G.H.O.S.T.. This Saturday marks the final day of principle photography on G.H.O.S.T.. Stay tuned to Mutantville.com for your up to the minute MVP news!
