Welcome back to another edition of Mutantville Mondays here on Mutantville.com! The Mutantville Players had another productive weekend of editing and working on promotional planning. As of this writing, we’re about three weeks deep into the final cut of G.H.O.S.T. and it’s coming along quite nicely. We’re anticipating another week or two of steady editing and the movie will be ready for the score and final sound design to be put in place.
Welcome back to another edition of Mutantville Monday, oh faithful Mutants! We’ve come through another long and productive weekend aboard the Mutantville Mothership so it’s time to give you a rundown on the latest happenings in the worlds of speculative fiction – as seen through the eyes of independent filmmakers. We have a steaming hot load of MVP News for you this morning followed by the Box Office Report with Contagion topping the charts and crazy rumors from around the web – so let’s get started!

Happy Labor Day, fellow Mutants! I hope you’ve all been enjoying your extended weekend with your friends and family. Here aboard the Mutantville Mothership, we’ve even slowed down production over the weekend to give us all a bit of a breather.
We’ve been working almost non-stop for over two years on several projects and that’s a pace that would wear down even the sturdiest of bionic men. If you’ve been following our progress since the beginning of the year – you’ll know that it’s been a wild and wooly year for the Mutantville Players. Since we’ve passed the mid-year mark for 2011 – we thought we’d share a look back at what 2011 has brought us so far in anticipation for all of the great things to come!
There have been rumblings about an official trailer for MVP’s supernatural thriller coming from the Mutantville offices for the past month. Fans on Facebook have been privvy to constant updates about work on a “trailer” for weeks on end with little else being offered in the way of explanation. This morning – a video marked “G.H.O.S.T. trailer” has appeared on the Mutantville Players Youtube channel and the internet seems all abuzz about this sneak peek at the latest full length feature from the MVP team.
No official word yet on a release date as writer director J.T.”Streebo” McRoberts states that “there are still a lot of visual FX and music to be done – but we’re making progress every day. The performances we captured were amazing and we’ve put every little horror movie trick we could think of in the movie. In the end – it will be worth the wait.”

Mutantville Productions is extremely proud to announce the addition of Matthew Ewald to the cast of “G.H.O.S.T.” Ewald is flying to the east coast at the end of the month to join actor Scott Thomas in the historic opera house for a scene based during the Civil War.
Matthew starred as Nick Bluetooth on the FOX/ABC series “Galidor” and will star as the young James T. Kirk on upcoming episodes of the award winning web series – “Star Trek Voyages: Phase II.’ Matthew has starred in several films and is currently on tour for his first novel, “. . . Human. . . Nature. . .”, now available for pre-order and due out in the coming months.
Although Matthew will only shoot for one day – his role in the story of “G.H.O.S.T.” is a pivotal one that sets in motion a chain of events with deadly repercussions for each member of the G.H.O.S.T. team.
Matthew brimmed with excitement when speaking of his role, “I’m so excited, forgive me for saying it again, but wow… this is going to be amazing. I haven’t been this excited in… well… What can I say? This is a dream role.”
MVP is proud to welcome Matthew to the talented cast of “G.H.O.S.T.” and hopes that this marks the beginning of a beautiful friendship.

This past weekend, the Mutantville Players weathered the storms across two states to converge on an one hundred year old house in the sleepy town of Smyrna, South Carolina to film the scheduled last scene for G.H.O.S.T.. Director, J.T. McRoberts, cinematographer Geo Swanko, and costume designer Luis Machicao joined actors Scott Thomas and Kathy Sandvoss to bring this dreamy sequence to life.
MVP was originally scheduled to film this scene back at the beginning of December but was forced to postpone due to poor weather conditions and sub-zero temperatures. This scene was designed in order to showcase the amazing costume designs of couture designer Luis Machicao. We searched long and hard for a suitable location that would pass for a Civil War period home – Luis himself was able to secure this amazing location for us.
Sunday morning saw storms cover the Carolinas – but we were in luck as the area around Smyrna was clear. MVP decided to take the risk and go forward with the shoot. It was quite a long trip down to the backwoods of South Carolina – but it was well worth it. The cast and crew had to drive through torrential downpour to make it to Smyrna – but everyone arrived safe and sound. We were pleased to round the bend to overcast – but calm skies and an amazing landscape nestled in a cloud of fog. The conditions couldn’t have been more conducive to filming our dream sequence if we had planned it that way.
Our hosts Kevin, Laura and Cameron were very gracious and patient with us as we dressed the cast in Luis’ gorgeous costumes and took them out in the field. Six year old Cameron was quite interested in our activities and even offered his ideas for a few horror scenes for our movie which he thought should include zombies. We had a few close scares as the sky tossed a short downpour or two on us during filming – but for the most part we went unmolested by the rain. Kathy and Scott took to their task like true professionals and we were able to shoot our way through the scene without any difficulty. Mutantville Productions would like to extend our most gracious thanks to our hosts Kevin, Laura, and Cameron for allowing us to come into their home. This was the scheduled final shoot of G.H.O.S.T. – but we can’t celebrate just yet. With the announced plans to continue working on G.H.O.S.T. to extend it to a full length feature run time – this is not the ending – but another amazing beginning.

Last night saw the Mutantville Players return to the opera house once more for another round of pick up shots. Luckily we weren’t just shooting windows and door frames this week as we were able to suit up and get bloody for another cool special make-up FX shot. Alan Whitley out his boomstick down and picked up the latex to play the part of our supernatural visitor. Alan underwent a grueling 3 hour session at the hands of special make-up FX kingpin Todd A. Britt. The air was chilly but Alan’s spirits were warm under layers of silicon, tubing and buckets of blood as he brought our ghostly friend to unatural life! With this shot in the can – we have only two major FX shots left and G.H.O.S.T. will be complete. This Sunday, the Mutantville Players are heading to the green and grassy hills of South Carolina for our final pick up shots with two of our leads – Kathy Sandvoss and Scott Thomas. The journey to make G.H.O.S.T. has been an amazing one. It will be sad to see it all come to an end. Be sure to keep checking Mutantville.com for your up to the minute MVP news!

Make-up FX Maestro Todd A. Britt brings another ghostly creation to life during the wee hours of the night.
Last night, Mutantville Productions wrapped principle photography on G.H.O.S.T. after a long fifteen hour shoot. Kathy Sandvoss earned her final Scream Queen stripes and Super Diva status by battling her way through another challenging shoot. Thanks to our good friend, couture designer, Luis Machicao for lending his tremendous talents in supervising the filming of his costume designs for the finale of the movie. Lead actor Scott Thomas persevered another bloody and bruising shoot to bring our central ghost to life. Clint Jones showed his horror heart by enduring several make-up sessions. Dave Tunik gave his all in taking another bloody bite out of his role and a gelatin prop. Jason Wheely gave a heartwrenching performance as a haunted young TV producer. Jack Stecher pulled out all the stops to give a bravura performance as the crazy caretaker of the opera house.
Special thanks goes out to MVP’S own maestro of make-up FX – Todd A. Britt for bringing all of his Sith talents to bear in creating several macabre make-ups over the course of the fifteen hour marathon. Additional thanks goes to Sylvia and Sierra for lending their talents to the make-up department by resurrecting our supernatural visitors once more. Thanks again to Allan Whitley for toughing out another long night to lend a strong hand and keep our boomstick steady for another night. Special thanks goes out MVP’S own Costume Diva, seamstress and assistant to Mr. Machicao, Angela Pritchett who although unable to attend our final shoot due to schedule conflicts, put in many a long night on the set of G.H.O.S.T., lending her considerable costuming talents to help bring the production to life. Thanks to John R. Sexton for putting on a layered performance as Grandfather last month. Thank you to Kayli Tolleson and her mom Janna for lending their talent, energy and support to G.H.O.S.T. over the course of the shoot. And last but not least a very special thanks goes to my mom, Momma Streebo, for being a beacon of strength and inspiration to me over the years and for dusting off her sewing machine to create Johnny Reb’s jacket in whole – mere days before the first shoot. And to anyone that helped that I may have overlooked here, thank you for your help, we could not have done it without you all. Thank you.
This project has been an amazing journey and I thank you all for sharing it with me. Production may be complete – but post-production begins immediately as we will continue with editing, sound design and shooting final make-up FX shots of the movie. Last night heralded yet another amazing day of filmmaking on the set of G.H.O.S.T.. We had an absolute blast shooting all of the elements that make horror fun – chases, ghosties, and other supernatural occurrences. Kathy Sandvoss put on a bravura performance as our gutsy heroine enduring take after take and bump after bump like a seasoned pro. Jack Stecher brought all of his years of experience to bear to imbue our creepy caretaker with a life of his own. Clint Jones continued to put on a solid showing as the beleaguered Seth. Dave Tunik and Jason Wheeley were able to survive a grueling make-up session to bring an amazing sequence of supernatural terror to vivid bloody life. Scott Thomas had his moment to take the center stage and bring the spirit of our ghost into four colored action! Thank you to Sylvia and Sierra for coming out and lending their talents as make up assistants again. Props to our ever reliable boom stick operator Allan Whitley for his sure hand and attentive ear throughout the shoot. Thanks to Jeremy for lending a hand shooting the behind the scenes segments. Everyone would like to extend a hearty handshake to Anne Reid for lending her talents as a massage therapist to keep everyone relaxed and loosened up for the duration of the shoot. Thanks to everyone for staying late and toughing it out. We are on the home stretch now – with the end in sight. Next Saturday will mark our final major shoot on the production of G.H.O.S.T. and we couldn’t be more pleased with the results. This will be an amazing project and you will all be very proud of the final film. Thank you all – because without you – our movie wouldn’t be possible.

The producers at Mutantville Productions have been running around non-stop in their preparation for the upcoming shoot for our latest project, G.H.O.S.T. We’ve been meeting with actors, location owners, and our very own fabulous costumer designer Luis Machicao. This week, MVP went to great lengths to procure a time machine to take Scott Thomas back in time to 1863. We needed a time period photo of Scott in his Johnny Reb garb for his role in G.H.O.S.T. . We’re very happy with the early results so far. We were so happy in fact – that we thought we’d share this special sneak preview with you. Enjoy.
