This week, horror fans from across the world have cause to celebrate as one of the most popular horror franchises of all time returns to the theaters for the first time in over ten years. Scream 4 by director Wes Craven and writer Kevin Williamson returns to wreak havoc upon an unsuspecting populace. Be sure to line up early to get your tickets to what must surely be the only true horror event of the Spring season.
It is worth noting that the Spring season has often been less than hospitable to the horror genre. I recall a time when the entire internet was abuzz at the latest collaboration between hotshot directors Quentin Tarantino and Robert Rodriguez for a little movie called Grindhouse. Grindhouse was released Easter weekend in 2007, everyone talked about it, and then no one went to see it.
I wouldn’t be surprised to see Scream 4 suffer the same fate. Horror fans are lazy and would often rather review a movie that they download illegally instead of paying hard earned cash to see a movie and then bitch about it like the old days. Ah, horror fans, what are we going to do with you?
Check back this weekend for MVP’s exclusive review of Scream 4. Get out to the theatre and see it for yourself. Come back and let us know what you think.
In other news, noted director Sidney Lumet passed away over the weekend. Lumet is well known for his work on films such as Serpico, The Wiz, Twelve Angry Men, and much more. The cinema will be a much darker place without him.
The creators of SAW, James Wan and Leigh Whannel, teamed to bring you another horror tale entitled Insidious. Insidious opened across the nation for a total box office of $27 million. With a production budget of less than $2 million, it is safe to say that James Wan will be bringing us more movies for years to come.
This week, Mutant TV brings you the trailers for the latest horror and sci-fi offerings playing at a theater near you. So put that Mountain Dew down, stop munching on Doritos and get your fat butt down to the theater to watch a movie. Get out and support the movies you want to see so they keep getting made.

That’s right Mutants, we’ll be unleashing the hell of Respawner on the crowd in attendance at Stellarcon in Highpoint North Carolina, this Saturday, March 5th at 11PM. We’ll be in suite Victorian A at 11PM rocking the crowed with a series of short films, behind the scenes footage and finally Respawner until well past midnight. In addition to Respawner, we’ll be screening Devil Comes Down to warm the crowd up. The word around the Mothership is that several of the characters from the film, including the Repsawner herself might be dropping by for an in person appearance.
There will be a wide array of door prizes and this may very well be the only way to see Respawner prior to the release of our anthology DVD, Tales from Mutantville, so don’t miss it.

In honor of our Inspirational Filmmaker of the Week and guest of honor at the upcoming Fright Night Film Fest – John Carpenter, we are going to play one of Carpenter’s classic sci-fi/horror flicks They Live. They Live stars former WWF superstar and WCW star Rowdy Roddy Piper as “John Nada” a nomad who finds himself caught up in a worldwide conspiracy to expose alien take over of the world. If that doesn’t get your spleen to jumping then as the posters say “you’re already dead!”
At 0.04 seconds of Episode 5 “Black Terror-Origins“, of the smash hit web series Heroes of the North, you can hear MVP’s own Brent Bowers as the voice of the Dallas, Texas court judge.
Brent has provided animatics for previous Movie Seals feature film projects and has long considered himself the world’s #1 fan of their sci fi “Recon” franchise. Needless to say he was thrilled to have his voice included in what has easily become the Seals most popular production to date, “Heroes of The North.”
The episode can be viewed for free on Koldcast at the link below.
I can’t remember the last time I spent 2:35 in a theater riveted like I was watching Avatar today. This film simply has to be seen in a theater to be believed. A truly beautiful film with a touching story of sci fi fantasy. johnny B heralds this one an instant classics. Don’t miss it in theaters.

Poor weather conditions forced the postponement of shooting our dream sequence this past Sunday. Not wanting to rest on one’s laurels, Brent decided he would rather spend that time developing a new sci-fi based web series. The project is titled Respawner about a heroine who’s super powers are activated after she’s killed. For more information join the group on Facebook.

Hop over to Youtube and take a look at Italian Maestro Mario Bava’s amazing science fiction effort that went on to inspire later works such as Ridley Scott’s Alien and The X-Men movie.

“Ok and now for My first film uploaded on this new channel I bring everyone a classic Italian Sci-Fi Horror film from 1965 intitled (Terrore nello spazio) or as it became known in America as (Planet of the Vampires).
This film is a true classic and aside from all the goofs and cheese of that era, one must respect it for it’s wonderfully creepy atmosphere and the great use of fog and camera work that makes the low budget effects seem not so horrible.
The plot I must say for 65 in a movie of this genre was pretty tightly contructed and is free of alot of the cliches common to that era of filmmaking.
So now please enjoy this Mario Bava directed classic and more info and facts to be included in later portions of this film.”
