This weekend Kevin Smith’s Red State is available on VOD while John Carpenter’s The Ward has hit Blu Ray and Netflix and lastly we get a double punch of Apollo 18 and Shark Night 3D playing in theaters across the nation. The team at MVP are hard at work moving several projects through various stages of production and foresee a long weekend of work ahead. There’s little time for updates so we’re going to share a few links with you then remind you to check out the Mutantville Productions Facebook fanpage and then let you enjoy yourself in the manner of your choosing.

By Rodney Robbins from the Charlotte Creative Community Board:
With all those lights and all that great looking talent, you have the perfect chance to shoot stunning, attention grabbing publicity stills. Instead of thinking of these shots as add-ons that slow down your already Super Tight production schedule, I say schedule them in and SAVE time! Do your publicity shots after the last take, before you strike the lights, that way it takes 2 minutes to get a great shot in stead of 20. Here are some shots to consider adding to your Shot List.
Close-up of lead crying or laughing
Two shot of leads arguing or being VERY expressive
Director giving notes to talent on set
Medium shot of actors pointing at lines
Actors playing with (er…um…I mean Rehearsing with) props
DP and producer with camera
Gaffer and DP or director setting lights
Writer and director framing a shot
Talent and director pigging out at craft services
People usually find these “candid,” behind the scenes shots much more interesting than a wide shot of the entire cast and crew. May I also suggest that you go ahead and feature individuals in your shots, make them STARS, but for different media outlets. Let the talent be the stars of main stream newspapers–they love that stuff. PAs can be stars in their college newspaper. Producers can be stars in business journals and newsletters. Directors and photographers can be stars for weekly newspapers and journals. I hope this helps.
Best wishes,
Rodney Robbins

The producers at Mutantville Productions were out in full force last night as we decended upon the historic opera house in downtown Albemarle. We spent a full six hours on the set testing the lights for this weekend’s scenes, shooting behind the scenes videos, as well as continuing our construction of MVP’S How-To seris on no-budget filmmaking – the Guerrilla Filmmaker’s Cookbook. We’ve just about run ourselves ragged through pre-production – and filming hasn’t even begun! That’s OK because the harder we prepare – the easier it is for everyone when we’re all on the set. All that’s left now is to put the finishing touches on the costumes and props and email the directions to everyone. We’ll see you all soon, MVP.

The producers at Mutantville Productions are running in the red as we continue preparations for the production of G.H.O.S.T. This past weekend, our lead actors Kathy Sandvoss and Scott Thomas met with head costumer Luis Machicao of the world famous Machicao couture designs for a session of measurements and fittings for their costumes. Scott also experienced the joys of casting – and we’re not talking about auditions – we mean alginate, plaster and all that other make-up FX stuff. Unfortunately, we weren’t able to get the life cast that we needed – but we’ll find a way around it. The minds at MVP are plotting our next move now.
We’re working hard pinning down the final location for this weekend’s shoot as well as stocking up on whatever props and costumes that we need. There’s no rest for the wicked nor a guerrilla filmmaker – but we wouldn’t have it any other way. Next stop – the opera house. G.H.O.S.T. starts filming this weekend!
