This means we’re doing final post and authoring the DVD now. We were so busy over the weekend that we barely had time to get out to the theater and enjoy The Avengers but we did and boy was it good! The Charlotte Film Anarchists will hold first meeting in May.
Welcome back to another weird and wild Monday on the Mutantville Mothership. It should go without saying by now that it’s been a busy weekend for the Mutantville Players. Post-production has been ongoing for several projects including G.H.O.S.T. and Tales From Mutantville and we are set to shoot the final scene for Muticia’s Movie Morgue tonight! Tonight’s shoot will be interesting as it features a live musical performance from Absolute Zero with band members Brent Bowers, Todd A. Britt and Jeremy Mullis. The biggest event of the weekend was the sudden announcement and subsequent launch of the filmmaking mastermind group the Charlotte Film Anarchists.
The Charlotte Film Anarchists is a group founded by Ghost Trek creator Michael Plumides and MVP co-founder J.T.McRoberts. The goal of the group is to provide Charlotte area filmmakers a chance to come together for a mastermind group once a month and talk to like minded individuals in the NC film industry. The Charlotte Film Anarchists is in no way meant to replace the existing group Charlotte Film Community – but rather to supplement it by giving actors and filmmakers that want to be more proactive a chance to meet and talk with others that have the same goals in mind.
What sets this group apart is the fact that there are no membership dues and no meetup fees. We are all struggling filmmakers that have to put so much of our own individual resources into our productions that at the end of the day it doesn’t always work out where we can scrounge up additional fees so we can simply meet and talk with our fellow filmmakers. Kill The Music author and Ghost Trek creator Michael Plumides started the ball rolling by finding a venue that would allow us to meet once a month to do our best to create positive proactive filmmaking partnerships.
Roger Corman at the Fright Night Film Fest with MVP!
“Other writers, producers, and directors of low-budget films would often put down the film they were making, saying it was just something to make money with. I never felt that. If I took the assignment, I’d give it my best shot.”~~Roger Corman

This week on Trailer Park Tuesday, we’re featuring the brand new teaser for the upcoming adaptation of The Hunger Games novels – which incidentally are being filmed right here in North Carolina. MVP figured we’d throw the producers a bone by featuring their new trailer. Help them get the word out to the fans of the fantastique. Here you go. Watch The Hunger Games trailer below!

This week I wanted to talk about something that I think some filmmakers miss out on. Networking! Unlike what some people think…it’s not synonymous with butt kissing. I think it is very important to get out and meet your peers. I spoke about this some in my last blog post about supporting other filmmakers. Meeting other filmmakers, supporting them, learning from each other can be very valuable. This is where helping others can also help you as well. If you volunteer on another set and see some equipment used you may not have used before or see a cool thing done behind the scenes or meet someone you become friends with or find new actors to work with, it’s worth it.
Networking has really helped us spread our circle of friends. We now know lots of actors, producers, directors, crew, editors, etc… Here are a few tips to assist you on your journey! After the tips I’ll discuss where to use them.

Thank MVP it’s Friday!!! Another week has come and gone oh faithful readers and the weekend is upon us once more. The weekend is always a majical time because that’s when we can let our creative sides loose like an American Werewolf in London and howl at the Muse’s Moon. The producers have been very busy over the past few years with production and post-production on our supernatual thriller G.H.O.S.T. and each week we get closer and closer to having the final product complete.
There’s no time to wax poetic about the state of independent horror at the moment as we have movies to make! I know you’re looking for something to do at work other than your actual work so here are a few videos to keep you occupied courtesy of Mutant TV!

We’re just over a month away from Halloween and with it the Third Annual Myers House NC Halloween Bash! This year, Kenny is playing not only MVP’s own short film Scarecrow At Midnight and Michael Sharpe’s Deviling, but he’s also playing the long lamented sixth installment of the Halloween franchise – Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers starring Donald Pleasence. We thought we would get you ready for the party by showing you the bootleg video of the “Producer’s Cut” of Halloween 6.
This week on Collector’s Corner – the producers at MVP would like to pay tribute to the late great artist – Gene Colan – who passed away just this past week. Gene Colan was an artist on Daredevil, Doctor Strange, Tomb of Dracula and most recently Rob Zombie’s Spookshow International. Gene illustrated a story written by Rob Zombie for the first three issues of Spookshow International entitled “The Return of Screaming Lord Zombie.” In this video, Streebo takes a look at his Gene Colan collection and Gene’s story in Spookshow International in particular.

If you’re a fan of horror then you’re more than likely a fan of the fantastic music that accompanies our favorite horror flicks. According to legend when John Carpenter showed his final cut of Halloween without the music to his producers – everyone thought the movie was horrible. One classic Carpenter score later – and Halloween became an instant classic!
If you just can’t get enough great horror scores – then check out the vintage Canadian Ferox episodes featuring music in horror where your hosts Jdog and the Changeling play classic tracks from your favorite horror flicks and discuss each one. Unfortunately Canadian Ferox is no more – but you can still download their shows from the archive. What are you waiting for? Get to listening or get to dying!!
Youtube user HORRORZone666999 has posted a four part video series featuring his picks for the top twenty horror film scores of all time! Featured scores include The Omen, Hellraiser, The Burning, IT, Silence of the Lambs, A Nightmare on Elm Street and many more! If you’re a fan of horror scores – then these vids are for you!
