If you’re going to see The Avengers this weekend you should take a minute to sing the praises of Avengers co-creator Jack Kibry. Without Kirby there would be no Iron Man, no Hulk, no Thor, no Loki, no Captain America – and no Avengers. His name will most likely appear near the beginning of the credits but he never gets the credit he deserves from the fan community. If you’re a creative individual let Kirby’s story educate you and warn you of the perils of allowing the major studios to steal your work from you. Follow the lesson of Kirby and copyright your stories. Maintain creative control of your characters so when the time comes and someone wants to buy them from you – you are holding all the cards and can set your own price.
