On the set of Scarecrow at Midnight at the Myers House NC.
Welcome back to another edition of Streeborama, oh friends and fiends. I hope you’re enjoying your Streebo-less week of MVP as I am currently out of the country on a secret government mission to discover the lost mines of Kilamanjaru. Actually I’m gone for the week to celebrate with my family as my sister gets married so I’ve had to leave the keys to the MVP kingdom in the hands of Geo and Brento. Let us know what you think of how they handled things while I was away.
Since Scarecrow at Midnight is playing at the Killuride Film Festival this weekend in Myrtle Beach I thought I would share some thoughts on that particular work and what it means to me. In case you’re not familiar with XCON and the Killuride film Festival then check out their fanpage on Facebook for more information. Continue Reading…

It’s rough as hell and hard to see but it’s better than nothing and it’s right here on Trailer Park Tuesday. Ladies and gentlemen, lords and lovers MVP presents the leaked trailer to Rob Zombie’s Lords of Salem. Watch it now before the rest of the world catches on.
This week quiet unexpectedly, I found myself in the theater watching Dark Shadows. As I’ve been working on developing my movie prototyping work flow using my new iPhone 4S, I decided to shoot this quick review of the latest Tim Burton picture. The results may surprise you. It’s not quite the piece of pancake covered crap I was expecting. Nah, I say. Click on the video to find out my inner most thoughts on Dark Shadows.
The film starts in colonial America and then jumps forward to 1972 and a rather pleasant re-imagining of those shagadelic times with music from the era that could only be described as the “the best sounds to come out of the 70′s”. The cast lead by the ever bankable Johnny Depp was fleshed out by Michelle Pfeiffer, Jackie Earle Haley, Eva Green, Bella Heathcote, and the obligatory, at least when it’s a Burton film, Helena Bonham Carter. Chloë Grace Moretz who fills the role of the rebelious Carolyn Sotddard (angry teen with a dark secret) has turned into quite the little actress. We see her here so squarely between girl and womanhood that her distain of basically all adults just seems so believable. Christopher Lee makes an appearance in a brief scene and there’s even a sweet little cameo for Alice Cooper. Actually, they picked two of his best tunes to feature and I’m betting this film will sell a lot of his records.
Michelle Pfeiffer
This particular review is in fact, spoiler free. I hope to do a more in depth discussion on it with spoilers in tact on a future installment of MVP Mutant Radio. This film had some incredible CGI work in it’s climatic sequence. The practical makeup was extremely theatrical and overly dramatic. To be honest, it put me off in the trailer and early promotional shots. Actually seeing it realized in this full on Burton world, it completely worked and really harkened back to the original portrayal of Barnabus Collins.
My single complaint was that main characters origin story felt a little rushed. I’d love to have seen more of the original love triangle that got him cursed to eternity as a vampire in the first place. Of course we arrive in 1973 around Halloween time setting the stage for a full own live action Burton tilt to everything like you might seen in a film like Corpse Bride. “Hence the pumpkins in the yard.”
The inevitable sequel was solidly setup in the film’s last frames. Even thought I went in with a bit of a chip on my shoulder over my fondness of the scary original version, I find that I’m O.K. with the thoughts of another funny Dark Shadows film.

Martin Bowes of Attrition featured on latest MVP Mutant Radio.
Who knew that when we planned to do one episode of MVP Mutant Radio a month that we would come closer to doing one or two episodes a week? Well here we are, it’s Friday and we have another edition of MVP Mutant Radio to share.
In honor of the upcoming premiere of G.H.O.S.T. at ConCarolinas in June – we’ve decided to reach back into the archives to share an interview with composer Martin Bowes of Attrition. Geo had the opportunity to interview Martin last year just prior to his beginning work on the original score for G.H.O.S.T. Check it out to hear what he had to say and then come see G.H.O.S.T. to hear his hypnotic score! For more information on Attrition please visit www.attrition.co.uk. Ridley Scott is bringing Prometheus to you this summer.
People say I pay too much attention to the look of a movie but for God’s sake, I’m not producing a Radio 4 Play for Today, I’m making a movie that people are going to look at.

Special makeup FX illusionist Todd A. Britt reveals latest sculpt for the Metatron Files.
Firstly, my dear Mutants, there’s no video this week. I actually created one but in the excitement of a new contract I just landed which will take me back to my beloved world of Financial Institution IT, the drive holding it got left at home. Not one to disappoint I wanted to forge ahead with a quick article update. I hope that’s ok, my friends. Even Johnny Brento has to succumb to good ole “Real Life” sometimes.
Since you last heard the gleeful voice of ol J.B., I have seen The Avengers, not once but twice. What a movie. Let me say that again to convey my proper level of enthusiasm. WHAT A MOVIE!!!!! If you haven’t yet, be sure to get yourself to the cinema this week sometime to catch it on the big screen. Otherwise, any Marvel fan would really be doing themselves a disservice. The movie was great all the way around! In fact, Streebo and myself spent the bulk of this weeks MVP Mutant Radiobroadcast discussing just that topic.
The Avengers (2012)
There’s also a new “Making Metatron” Vlog update coming your way soon. I’m may double up one day this week just to maintain my “at least one MutantTV video per week” schedule.
In the meantime you can check out an alternate take of Absolute Zero (featuring yours truly and Todd A. Britt)’s performance from Muticia’s Morgue on the official AZ Youtube Channel. The footage has been quickly comped and not in way shape or fashion similar to what you’ll seen in the program. It’s just for fun so check it out if you like having your face melted with original Alt Rock!
The Mutantville Players are back for a surprise episode of The Avengers (2012). Both Brento and Streebo made the trips out to the theater this weekend to see the movie that has taken the universe by storm. Join the Mutantville Players, Streebo & Brento for a two tiered discussion on the record breaking superhero movie The Avengers (2012) directed by Joss Whedon. In this episode we bring you a spoiler free discussion of The Avengers during “No News”, then we discuss our picks for greatest superhero movie in “I am the Greatest,” followed by a full on Ragnarok worthy discussion on The Avengers (2012) with every spoiler we can think of. MVP closes the show by sharing some red hot social media tips in “The Game.” The featured song for today is “Work Song for the Leisure Class” by Thank You Spaceman. Don’t forget to subscribe to MVP Mutant Radio on iTunes. Continue Reading…
MVP to bring G.H.O.S.T. to ConCarolinas this June!
It’s time for another Mutantville Monday on Mutantville.com. It’s time to bring you all up to date and make sure that you know we are working toward getting ready for the first public screening of G.H.O.S.T. at ConCarolinas the first weekend in June. This means we’re doing final post and authoring the DVD now. We were so busy over the weekend that we barely had time to get out to the theater and enjoy The Avengers but we did and boy was it good! If you’re going to see The Avengers this weekend you should take a minute to sing the praises of Avengers co-creator Jack Kibry. Without Kirby there would be no Iron Man, no Hulk, no Thor, no Loki, no Captain America – and no Avengers. His name will most likely appear near the beginning of the credits but he never gets the credit he deserves from the fan community. If you’re a creative individual let Kirby’s story educate you and warn you of the perils of allowing the major studios to steal your work from you. Follow the lesson of Kirby and copyright your stories. Maintain creative control of your characters so when the time comes and someone wants to buy them from you – you are holding all the cards and can set your own price. Continue Reading…
