Muticia meets Night of the Living Dead in one week, Retro offers Science fiction double feature and more on Fridays with MVP!

Muticia the Movie Goddess and Mutie are ready to watch some movies in 2012!

Get ready for a Good Friday throwdown with MVP! Welcome back mighty Mutants! It’s time for your end of the week update here at Mutantville.com. We’ve had quite a wild ride since the beginning of the year as we’ve been prepping for as well as promoting everything from the Nevermore Film Festival to the Mad Monster Party to Muticia’s Movie Morgue. We’re catching our breath for a moment before we start the mad rush to our last big convention appearances of the year including Charlotte’s own ConCarolinas and the big Lousiville slugger of a convention – the Fright Night Film Fest and Fandom Fest! By catching our breath that means we’re taking a break from promoting to focus on actual filmmaking.

Last weekend we shot 75% of the first episode of Muticia’s Movie Morgue. We knew going into it with a cast comprised of Vanelle, England Simpson, Patrick Simpson, Mutie the Mutantville Mutant and Todd A. Britt that we were in good hands. Well – maybe putting Todd in front of the camera was a big gamble – but in the end it paid off. He managed to bring his role as the ornery makeup FX artist to believable life. I guess all those years as an ornery makeup FX artist on MVP sets really paid off. Who knew it was method training all along?

The cast and crew of Muticia's Movie Morgue.

Our cast put on a stellar performance backed by a strong and dedicated crew and we managed to put some really fantastic footage in the can. We have but a handful of minor scenes left to shoot before Muticia’s Movie Morgue episode one is ready – starting with a massive shoot next Sunday April 15th as MVP and Muticia’s Movie Morgue unleash ZOMBIE DAY on the unsuspecting masses. We’re meeting in Albemarle again to shoot a really cool skit for the show that features Muticia as a news reporter reporting from the site of the initial zombie outbreak in George A. Romero’s Night of the Living Dead. Grab your kids, drag your wife along and wheel grandma on down to the Mutantville Productions Studios and get lathered in grey greasepaint so you can all spend the day staggering around a cemetery. It’s going to be a wacky day and we need all the zombies we can get so come out and let your inner ghoul out for the day!

Mutantville Shines On, Underworld Awakening Tops Box Office and Mutant TV Returns on Mutantville Mondays!

The Shining graphic design from giantsumo.com

Despite the gray wet fog that sedated most of the state – MVP had another productive weekend. We started the weekend right by going to see Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining in 35mm at Retrofantasma on Friday night. Brento was able to work on The Metatron Files preproduction and while Streebo put the finishing touches on the final version of the script for episode one.

The final script for the first episode of Muticia’s Movie Morgue went out to actors over the weekend and was well received. More news on that as things develop in the coming month. There was a lot of activity behind the scenes as we got word that our films did not make the cut for this year’s Nevermore Film Festival.

Not to be deterred we were happy to find out that MVP has been accepted as guests to this year’s ConCarolinas convention in June. MVP will host a special screening at ConCarolinas but we’ll keep that under wraps until the full details are worked out. There’s also something really big and crazy coming to Charlotte very soon that MVP is going to be a part of but until there is an official announcement, we will just have to keep mum about it. Trust me when I say it is very cool.

Vanelle joins MVP as Horror Hostess “Muticia the Movie Goddess!”

Watch out, Elvira!  Move over Miko Macabre!  Here comes Muticia the Movie Goddess!

Mutantville Productions is proud to welcome the very lovely and extremely talented Vanelle to the cast of Tales From Mutantville.  Vanelle has agreed to sign on as the horror hostess with the most-est – Muticia the Movie Goddess!  The character of Muticia will play a large part in linking the stories of Tales From Mutantville together to create a true horror anthology in the tradition of Creepshow, Cat’s Eye and Tales From The Crypt.

The Mutantville Players have long been fans of Vanelle after first seeing her work in the short zombie movie See The Dead by director Robert W. Filion.  Vanelle has starred in numerous genre productions including Mercy Kill, Psycho Holocaust, Exhibit A-7, and the upcoming Remnants. In addition to being an amazing talent in front of the camera, Vanelle is very active behind the scenes as a producer and even occasionally takes the reigns to write and direct for her own company Magic Tribe Pictures.  She has directed two short films to date including Inheriting the Earth and Spades.
