Alien 1979 movie poster
Alien is one of those movies that has been homaged, ripped off and copied. Even in movies like Spaceballs. The original Alien
was released in 1979. It was directed by Ridley Scott. It was written by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett. Alien stars Tom Skerritt, Sigourney Weaver, Veronica Cartwright (no relation to the Cartwrights from Bonanza), Harry Dean Stanton, John Hurt, Ian Holm, Yaphet Kotto, Bolaji Badejo and Helen Horton.
This is the story of a space mining ship (the kind you see everyday) called the Nostromo. The crew are awaken from hypersleep to investigate a strange signal from a planet. They discover it is not a call for help but a warning. Dun dun dun!

Leaving The Old Home
If you’ll note on most of Streebo’s video’s as well as my own modest video contributions to Mutant TV, which of course is located at Youtube.com/mutantvilleplayers, if we’re not in front of some theater movie poster marquee, we’re snug in our home media vestibules to expose the awesomeness of horror movies or whatever we are watching at the moment.

Hauled Up to the New Space
From time to time the movies or magazines behind us change to match the current topic. In my case, the most recent change was less than sublte. The Mutantville Mothership VHS archive simply outgrew the space it was stored in. To prevent the closure of the BlockBuster video across the street from where I type this article presently from being a complete loss, I capitalized and purchase some of their media racks at some seriously low, low prices.
While this sort of an upgrade has been needed for a long, long time at Brentoville, the results surprised even me. Each rack holds approximately 936 DVD sized items. Once everything is hauled into the new space, VHS will occupy one rack with DVD media on the other. I should be able to get a handle on exactly how many VHS, DVD & Games I own. Knowing that funny little number is a part of the fun of collecting so I’m looking forward to discovering it.

Liam Likes The New Video Store Upstairs
Over the next several days I’ll be adding photos to this article to share the evolution of my new office/creatives pace/ video backdrop/ media library in the newly refurbished upstairs office in my home. Stay tuned.

This week on Mutantville.com’s Collectors Corner we bring you two very neat vintage horror collectibles. First up we have the very cool and very rare VHS for Rawhead Rex! Rawhead Rex was based on a Clive Barker story of the same name.
Although it is worth noting that there were significant changes from the short story to the movie – there were several shocking moments that made the leap to celluloid in their full on blasphemous glory. Rawhead Rex still has not been given a proper DVD release in the States so that makes VHS it’s only viable format. This is a real steal for any Clive Barker fan worth his salt. Place your bid or buy it now by visiting eBay at this link.
For the poster hunters out there we bring you the one-sheet to Brian DePalma’s The Fury! Check it out on eBay by clicking here. The Fury starred Andrew Stevens, Kirk Douglas, and John Cassavettes. The one sheet is of Turkish desgin and is full of retro movie poster win!

This week on the Collector’s Corner, we’re watching a rare and wild poster from Turkey! It doesn’t get any wierder and wilder than the original video nasty. That’s right – we’re talking about the Evil Dead!!! So listen up you primitive screwheads! If you’re a crazy collector like me – and I know you are – then pop on over to eBay and put this bad boy on your watch list before it’s gone. Nothing says “horror fan” like Evil Dead and nothing is cooler than having a bizarro alternative print from another country and that includes this Turkish delight. Check it out at the link below:

EDIT: My good friend Jon Kitley at Kitley’s Krypt notified me that this is not even a Turkish poster – it’s actually Thai! That makes this poster even wilder. Check out Kitley’s Krypt here.

I use eBay to track down rare, exciting, cheesy or just plain bad posters from time to time. I rarely buy anything – but I enjoy watching them. I’ve decided to share a few of these images with you. Today’s watched poster is the atrocious The Night of Bloody Horror one-sheet! I just love how some designer somewhere thought that all this poster needed was a skull face wearing a Tina Turner wig – and voila! Instant TERROR!!!
From eBay: You will enjoy this 11″ x 17″ Style B print featuring 1969 The Night of Bloody Horror . Perfect for your home or office! Also makes a great gift.
