Johnny Brento’s JuJu tackles Mutantville Zombie Day 2012

Our Fearless Movie Goddess

Our Fearless Movie Goddess gets to the Heart of the Matter in this Episode of Movie Morgue

Another Johnny Brento’s JuJu Wednesday is upon us. THIS time I have something cool to share. It’s behind the scenes Mutantville Zombie Day inside access. Yeah!!! Sometimes, things just work out, or as old Hannibal used to say on the A-Team, I love it when a plan comes together.

Hint: That's not Beet juice I'm about to dump into our featured zombie's eye.

I got roped into a role as second makeup artist and wound up doing 7 zombie makeups in 2 hours. Obviously it had to be mostly shading with those limitations, but I did churn out one latex creation on a featured zombie portrayed by Lisa Cobb. Being that the footage was going to be converted to black and white, I figured it would carry the impression of undead. I’m happy to report that the footage looks great. I even pulled out the camera and got some footage of the graveyard antics for you, faithful mutants!

This bit from the upcoming episode of Muticia’s Movie Morgue features our movie goddess in her news reporter guise in the field during the events of NOTLD circa 1969, interviewing the ghouls as they return to from the dead.

The second featured zombie, we lovingly refer to as, “Bogman” was portrayed by our friend and by now veteran MVP Player, Jeremy Mullis. He was decked out as a zombie who’d languished in a semi open grave and had the experience of moss growing over much of his face and body.

Muticia Always Gets Her Zombie!

Rise of The Bogman

Here in the Mutantville Cemetery, we see it in full light and it looks amazing. AMAZING! It’s almost as cool as when Burger King switched from Pepsi to Coke products. Sometimes, things just work out!

So, I’m guessing that if you are still reading this far into the article, you really really want to see the behind the scenes video promised above. Be sure to subscribe, like and comment on our video on Youtube. Remember, make your comments on MutantTV tell us what kind of programming you really want to see. So far, apparently you like Streebo’s horror chat and review type Vlogs better than the making of and behind the scenes content which I tend to focus on. That’s why I have one day of programming and he has 5. If that’s not to your liking, make your voice heard on the Youtube comments box for videos featuring content you like the most.

Without further ado, Johnny Brento’s Zombie Day JuJu 2012.

The Return of Dr. Saw Bones – FX Pickup Shooting for G.H.O.S.T.

JohnnyBChinTodd A. Britt, resident makeup guru and spiritual leader of the Mutantville makeup department has a set of appliances he enjoys torturing me with. They were originally created for a rather involved vampire makeup from a previous project. When used by themselves they tend to make me look like an exaggerated Jay Leno or perhaps Bette Midler’s Winifred ‘Winnie’ Sanderson from Hocus Pocus, ie a big warted nosed witch. Ever since I knocked out a large chunk of oone of his front teeth in C For Chaos, Todd has been looking for the right opportunity to strike can. This weekend he found it.

Now typically ole Johnny B stays behind the camera unless the role calls for some danger stunts we don’t want to endanger our actors with or an uncomfortable mask. That said, I felt like Todd has really pulled it together for this project despite a shaky start and was obliged to indulge him with this character makeup.SawBones

Now this time he wanted me to shave my beard only on the chin, Liev Schreiber style, which I did. The idea was for the chin appliance to fit on the clean shaven area. Unfortunately, someone’s math was off with the shaving which was expanding twice. Ultimately Todd decided that I’d survived latex directly on the edge of my remaining beard line. Sweet mother was this painful to get off, that is if you consider having your beard plucked one hair at a time painful. There was also some lovely latex in the nostril.

By now it should comes as no surprise to anyone that it was an amazingly successful shoot. We this unbelievable cast of giving artists we really can’t go wrong. It’s gratifying to see some of the cast proper, coming back to lend a hand on the pickup shoots or fill a role as an extra in disguise. We also made a few new friends who just found there way to the magical kingdom of Mutantville.

PainfulIt was cold and a bit uncomfortable but once again everyone pulled together and we made our day. Todd A. Britt and Sylvia Burris provided some rather remarkable battle damaged makeups which I wish I could share. At last, we can’t let that cat of the bag just yet. I have posted some snaps on the Face Book gallery so be sure to swing by and check those out.

Remember this above all else Mutantville Players, Johnny Brento loves ya!

MVP Picks Up More G.H.O.S.T.S at Opera House.

geo-streebo-alan-make-up-shoot-dec-10-2009Last night saw the Mutantville Players return to the opera house once more for another round of pick up shots.  Luckily we weren’t just shooting windows and door frames this week as we were able to suit up and get bloody for another cool special make-up FX shot.  Alan Whitley out his boomstick down and picked up the latex to play the part of our supernatural visitor.  Alan underwent a grueling 3 hour session at the hands of special make-up FX kingpin Todd A. Britt.  The air was chilly but Alan’s spirits were warm under layers of silicon, tubing and buckets of blood as he brought our ghostly friend to unatural life!  With this shot in the can – we have only two major FX shots left and G.H.O.S.T. will be complete.  This Sunday, the Mutantville Players are heading to the green and grassy hills of South Carolina for our final pick up shots with two of our leads – Kathy Sandvoss and Scott Thomas.  The journey to make G.H.O.S.T. has been an amazing one.  It will be sad to see it all come to an end.  Be sure to keep checking Mutantville.com for your up to the minute MVP news!
