Ed Wood with MVP’s Inspirational Filmmaking Quote of the Week.
“Nobody will ever notice that. Filmmaking is not about the tiny details. It’s about the big picture.”

“Nobody will ever notice that. Filmmaking is not about the tiny details. It’s about the big picture.”
“The public has an appetite for anything about imagination – anything that is as far away from reality as is creatively possible.”
~~Steven Spielberg
“How could we possibly appreciate the Mona Lisa if Leonardo Da Vinci had written at the bottom of the canvas, ‘The lady is smiling because she is hiding a secret from her lover’? This would shackle the viewer to reality, and I don’t want this to happen to 2001.”
~~Stanley Kubrick
This has to be a record for repeat appearances on Trailer Park Tuesday here at Mutantville.com. We first posted the trailer to Kevin Smith’s Red State when it was first released back at the end of last year and then again when the first limited theatrical tour was announced and again at the beginning of the month when Red State hit VOD. Even after all of this activity – Red State is still not finished!

It’s Saturday!!! On Mutantville.com that means one thing – it’s time for Scary Movie Saturday. That means today’s the day that we find one great scary flick for you to watch this weekend and post it right here on the website! Since the found footage Space Gothic flick Apollo 18 opened at theaters across the country today AND John Carpenter’s The Ward hit DVD and Blu Ray, we thought we would honor the occasion(s) by playing The Thing From Another World.

This week, Warren Ellis, writer of Transmetropolitan, Global Frequency, Black Summer, and Planetary, provides us with our inspirational quote of the week. This video was taken during Ellis’ trip to North Carolina in 2006 at the Heroes Convention in Charlotte. In it – he discusses the writing process and how a writer should go about writing one’s stories. Watch and learn.
George A. Romero is often credited with being the godfather of modern horror and rightfully so. However, there is a little known horror film that came out a good six years before Romero’s Night of the Living Dead and served as a big inspiration on Romero’s work - Carnival of Souls.
Carnival of Souls is a creepy, atmospheric horror movie about a woman caught in a traumatic accident who finds herself wandering around a strange abandoned carnival. Carnival of Souls deserves a spot in MVP’s Guerrilla Filmmaker’s Pantheon as both the writer John Clifford and director Herk Harvey waived their earnings on the movie in order to get the film made on a minuscule budget of $17,000. That’s guerrilla filmmaking at it’s finest.

Miko loves MVP!
If Muticia had a sister – it would be Miko Macabre. Miko’s horror review show Cryptique served as the direct inspiration for Muticia’s Movie Morgue. Miko Macabre produced a series of fantastic horror review shows through 2007 and 2008 winning the hearts of horror fans from sea to bloody sea. Sadly, she stopped production over a year ago leaving fanboys panting for more. Since Miko has ceased production of Cryptique, MVP has decided to pick up where she left off by bringing a fresh new horror hostess to the drooling horror fanboys across the world.
Muticia’s Movie Morgue is going to be a major component of MVP over the next few years. This is a once in a lifetime role and requires a woman with the right combination of skills, savvy and sexiness to pull it off.
Check out Miko over at her website – Cryptique.
