Elvira Mistress of the Dark.
Elvira returns to Mutantville.com! One of our most popular posts on Mutantville.com is “Horror Hostess History” featuring Elivra, Vampira and Miko Macabre. I recently discovered that there’s a nice little sub-market of Elvira figures and toys on eBay so I figured why not share them here on Collector’s Corner?

It’s been a very productive week so far with the successful completion of the Muticia’s Movie Morgue segments for Tales From Mutantville. Cast and crew spearheaded by the lovely Vanelle brought the character of Muticia to life. The shoot went very smoothly and we had an absolute blast shooting the scenes. Big thanks to everyone who came out to make it possible – and of course a big thank you goes out to everyone that helped make Tales From Mutantville possible – we couldn’t have done any of it without you!
This weekend we’re still racing to get ready for the big convention next week – the Fright Night Film Fest in Kentucky. We’re prepping shirts, updating websites, completing post-production on Tales From Mutantville and so much more in an effort to be ready for the con. Actually, we’re getting ready for two conventions, because this year promoter Ken Daniels is putting on two great cons for the price of one with the addition of Fandom Fest.

In keeping with our celebration of horror hostesses this week in anticipation of the arrival of Muticia the Movie Goddess, we’re going to shine the spotlight on another popular horror hostess from recent years – Ivonna Cadaver from Macabre Theatre! This week Ivonna Cadaver is hosting Satan’s School For Girls! If there is a more sinister title in the English language I’d love to hear it!
So what are you waiting for? The movie is going to be terrible – but you can watch Ivonna Cadaver for free. Online. Right now! It’s Scary Movie Saturday on Mutantville.com!

In honor of the the upcoming Tales From Mutantville shoot with MVP’s own Muticia the Movie Goddess, the producers at Mutantville Productions thought this would be a good time to take a look at the history of horror hostesses through the ages. It would take a book length essay to properly cover this subject, so for the purpose of this discussion, we’re going to keep it simple. We’ll take a look at the roots of Horror Hostess-dom starting with it’s originator - Vampira, then we’ll take a look at the rise of Elvira into 80′s pop culture stardom, and lastly we’ll visit our good friend and self-made horror hostess extraordinaire – Miko Macabre.
The origins of the horror hostess are as murky as the smoke filled stages they haunt. There is some dispute as to whether the woman named Maila Elizabeth Nurmi was born on December 21, 1921 or on December 11, 1922. What is not in dispute is that she would one day find inspiration in the character of Morticia Addams from Charles Addams’ The Addams Family comic strip and create the persona of Vampira.

Watch out, Elvira! Move over Miko Macabre! Here comes Muticia the Movie Goddess!
Mutantville Productions is proud to welcome the very lovely and extremely talented Vanelle to the cast of Tales From Mutantville. Vanelle has agreed to sign on as the horror hostess with the most-est – Muticia the Movie Goddess! The character of Muticia will play a large part in linking the stories of Tales From Mutantville together to create a true horror anthology in the tradition of Creepshow, Cat’s Eye and Tales From The Crypt.
The Mutantville Players have long been fans of Vanelle after first seeing her work in the short zombie movie See The Dead by director Robert W. Filion. Vanelle has starred in numerous genre productions including Mercy Kill, Psycho Holocaust, Exhibit A-7, and the upcoming Remnants. In addition to being an amazing talent in front of the camera, Vanelle is very active behind the scenes as a producer and even occasionally takes the reigns to write and direct for her own company Magic Tribe Pictures. She has directed two short films to date including Inheriting the Earth and Spades.

Since we’re taking an MVP field trip this weekend to the Carolina Theatre to see The Dark Crystal and Army of Darkness – I thought we should prepare ourselves for some Evil Dead fun! What better way to get ready for the marathon than by revisiting this 90′s classic with your favorite horror hostess and mine – Miko Macabre! So put your primitive screwhead friends back in the closet, polish your chainsaw and hold on to your boomstick, it’s Army of Darkness night on Cryptique!

Miko loves MVP!
If Muticia had a sister – it would be Miko Macabre. Miko’s horror review show Cryptique served as the direct inspiration for Muticia’s Movie Morgue. Miko Macabre produced a series of fantastic horror review shows through 2007 and 2008 winning the hearts of horror fans from sea to bloody sea. Sadly, she stopped production over a year ago leaving fanboys panting for more. Since Miko has ceased production of Cryptique, MVP has decided to pick up where she left off by bringing a fresh new horror hostess to the drooling horror fanboys across the world.
Muticia’s Movie Morgue is going to be a major component of MVP over the next few years. This is a once in a lifetime role and requires a woman with the right combination of skills, savvy and sexiness to pull it off.
Check out Miko over at her website – Cryptique.
