Mario Bava’s Black Sunday takes over Scary Movie Saturday!

This week on Scary Movie Saturday we’re bringing you a classic work from Mario Bava – Black Sunday!  Black Sunday is the definitive 60′s Gothic horror film starring Scream Goddess Barbara Steele and featuring a chilling opening sequence and stark painterly black and white compositions throughout.  True fans of the horror genre need no explanation for this one as Mario Bava is revered far and wide and here on the Mutantville Mothership he holds a lofty position amongst the Patron Saints of Guerrilla Filmmaking.

John Carpenter’s New Horror The Ward Premieres at TIFF!

Sure this is old news to some of you, but we thought we’d share this with you anyway.  Over the past few years, one of our favorite directors and one of the Patron Saints of Guerrilla Fillmmaking, John Carpenter, has been hard at work on his latest full length feature entitled The Ward. Carpenter has been responsible for such unforgettable horror classsics as Halloween, The Fog, The Thing and In The Mouth of Madness.  Carpenter has completed work on The Ward and has hit the convention circuit with a few special screenings.  At the recent Toronto International Film Festival – Carpenter screened the movie to a ravenous audience.  Check out these exclusive clips below:
