On the set of Scarecrow at Midnight at the Myers House NC.
Welcome back to another edition of Streeborama, oh friends and fiends. I hope you’re enjoying your Streebo-less week of MVP as I am currently out of the country on a secret government mission to discover the lost mines of Kilamanjaru. Actually I’m gone for the week to celebrate with my family as my sister gets married so I’ve had to leave the keys to the MVP kingdom in the hands of Geo and Brento. Let us know what you think of how they handled things while I was away.
Since Scarecrow at Midnight is playing at the Killuride Film Festival this weekend in Myrtle Beach I thought I would share some thoughts on that particular work and what it means to me. In case you’re not familiar with XCON and the Killuride film Festival then check out their fanpage on Facebook for more information. Continue Reading…
Martin Bowes of Attrition featured on latest MVP Mutant Radio.
Who knew that when we planned to do one episode of MVP Mutant Radio a month that we would come closer to doing one or two episodes a week? Well here we are, it’s Friday and we have another edition of MVP Mutant Radio to share.
In honor of the upcoming premiere of G.H.O.S.T. at ConCarolinas in June – we’ve decided to reach back into the archives to share an interview with composer Martin Bowes of Attrition. Geo had the opportunity to interview Martin last year just prior to his beginning work on the original score for G.H.O.S.T. Check it out to hear what he had to say and then come see G.H.O.S.T. to hear his hypnotic score! For more information on Attrition please visit www.attrition.co.uk. Follow Mutantville on Twitter @mvp and visit us at www.Mutantville.com. Continue Reading…
Join your hosts Streebo & Geo for the historic first episode of MVP Mutant Radio! In this MVP update we have a discussion on Cabin In The Woods and Muticia’s Movie Morgue and we even drop a few filmmaking tips along the way.
Catherine Trail of Family Fiend and writer/director Geo
This weekend Tales from Mutantville premiered at the Mad Monster Party. The joke was on Family Fiend unfortunately because the DVD player was not cooperative. The machines thought they had won, but little did they know that on Saturday we were running ahead of schedule and had some time to show Family Fiend and Scarecrow at Midnight.
This was the first time something I wrote and directed screened for the public. It was an awesome feeling. I was glad that the very talented Catherine Trail, who played Tess in Family Fiend, was there to watch it for the first time. We appreciate all of our friends and guests that were in attendance as well. Continue Reading…

Here’s a video walk through of the upcoming Mad Monster Party in Charlotte this coming weekend! Check it out! There will be so many things happening, how can you pass this up?
It’s time for another Monday morning Mutantville Player roll call! Streebo! Geo! Brento! Toddo! No wait that’s not right. I think he’s Mega-Todd or Dr.Savini or something like that but it breaks the name-plus-o convention that we have going. Anyway – we’re all here and accounted for after another long hard weekend making the best in genre entertainment that the Planet Earth has to offer.
When I hold up my Majic Spyglass I can see all the Mutants sitting at home with us. I see Kathy and Catherine. Jason and Dave. There’s Super-K and Angela. Oh – I see Kayli and Meghan and Janice and Ruff. Hey – there’s Kat and Matthew and I even see you! Looks like we’re all accounted for.
Now let’s strap in and put our bits in place because the Mutantville Mothership is about to blast off. We’re headed for the five oblong corners of the Internet and there’s no coming back. Since it’s easy to get lost along the way – here’s your Mutantville Signal Watch with built in Quantum Compass to help you no matter which plane of existence that you find yourself currently residing. Here. We. GO!!!

Sounds kind of odd doesn’t it. Oh well. This post is about getting rid of some stress. Any one in filmmaking goes through some stress. Working with other people in general can cause stress and the time crunches on set, flakiness(not like a biscuit), dead lines, different areas of production, different departments, everything coming together at a specific time, etc… is enough to make you need some serious medications. So you need a way to relax and get rid of stress or you will explode.
We all have our ways to relax…whether it’s watching movies(pretty normal for filmmakers for obvious reasons), being outdoors, exercising, shooting black tar heroin, going shopping, listening to music, playing music(one of my personal favorites), dancing, playing video games, I think you get the idea. All of these things keep us sane and if we run ourselves all the time, we don’t do these things and it affects our craft and our relationship with everyone else in our lives because we become moody and mean.
In honor of David Hess’ recent passing we are re-posting Geo’s write-up on the 1972 trash classic – Last House On The Left. We’ve added Streebo’s recent video tribute to Mr. Hess at the bottom.
David Hess 1942 - 2011 R.I.P.
On this week’s Classics Corner, we’re going to feature Wes Craven’s “Last House on the Left.” This film was released in 1972 and stars Sandra Peabody, Lucy Grantham, David Hess, Fred J. Lincoln, Jeramie Rain, Marc Sheffler, Richard Towers and Cynthia Carr. The official synopsis is “A pair of teenage girls are headed to a rock concert for one’s birthday. While trying to score marijuana in the city, the girls are kidnapped by a gang of psychotic convicts.” See kids…that’s what happens when you try to get drugs!
School is in session as Streebo learns from the Master of Horror - John Carpenter!
It’s Hump Day and that can only mean one thing – no not what you’re thinking – it’s time for Collector’s Corner with MVP! Streebo and Geo made the trip out to the Fright Night Film Fest in Kentucky last week to meet John Carpenter, Henry Winkler, J.D.Fiegelson of Dark Night of the Scarecrow, Jim Kelly and many more at what was quite simply the best convention of the year! Streebo made off with a decent load of goodies from the con and is opening the doors to his vault to share them with you!
Check out the video below for the full recap and a peek at the rarities and new treasures that adorn the shelves of the Streebo’s fabled secret lair!
The Mutantville Players were on hand this weekend to witness John Carpenter accepting his Lifetime Achievement Award from the Fright Nigh Film Fest in Kentucky. The Master of Horror was honored for a lifetime of dedication to the horror genre as well as for creating such classic works as Halloween, In The Mouth of Madness, Christine, Escape From New York, Big Trouble In Little China, and most recently Cigarette Burns.
We took plenty of pictures and shot tons of interview footage of the event. We chatted with everyone from Jim Kelly to Larry Drake to Addy Miller to a certain man named John . . . Carpenter that is.
MVP would like to send out a big round of thanks to promoter Ken Daniels and Myra Daniels and their crew for putting on not just one – but TWO great shows this year with the Fright Night Film Fest and Fandom Fest. There were a lot of things that happened that were out of their control like the loss of air conditioning and shortage of tables at the convention center but they dealt with it with equanimity and made this past weekend the best con on the East coast so far for 2011!
