Streeborama: Streebo’s First Blog Post.

Welcome to the first edition of Streeborama here on the MVP Blog!  This week, we’re experimented with making actual personal blog posts for a change to give you all a feel for the individual voices here on the Mutantville Mothership.  I decided that I’m a bit tired of writing up articles all the time so I figured I’d just shoot a v-log and post that instead – so that’s exactly what I did.

The next thing I know, it’s approaching midnight and I’m doing fine edits on G.H.O.S.T. at the same time that I’m editing this v-log.  How that happened I have no idea but it had to be done.  So sit back – turn on the old Youtube and fire up Streebo’s V-log to learn all the latest happenings with Tales From Mutantville, G.H.O.S.T. and the MVP Blog – here on Mutantville.com.

ConCarolinas 2011 with Brinke Stevens, Ghost Trek, & the Mutantville Players.

This past weekend (June 3 – 5th, 2011), ConCarolinas held it’s tenth annual convention in Charlotte.  The featured guests included Harry Turtledove, Conor McCullagh, Brinke Stevens, Addy Miller of The Walking Dead and the cast & crew of Ghost Trek.

The Mutantville Players have attended ConCarolinas for the past six years in a row.  Last year was our first time submitting one of our short films – Devil Comes Down – to the film festival.  This year marked our first appearance as guests at the convention.  Charlotte has been home to the Mutantville Mothership for years – and we were proud to attend a con on our native soil.  We had plenty of friends come out to show support and built several new friendships along the way.

Brinke Stevens, John Carpenter, ConCarolinas & Fright Night in MVP Sights!

This is Streebo, your resident Doctor of Horror, and I’m back with another Mutantville Monday update!

Join us at ConCarolinas on June 3rd at 7pm for a special screening of Respawner the Web Series Pilot episode.  Come out and show your support for fantasy, science fiction and horror with MVP.  Special guests at ConCarolinas include MVP, Ghost Trek and Brinke StevensBRINKE STEVENS!!!  If that doesn’t make your toes curl then you’re no friend of mine!

Looking for news on G.H.O.S.T. – then check out the latest post-production v-log:

And here’s out latest update from over the weekend as we prepared the underscore for Scarecrow At Midnight in the hopes to have the final score ready for viewing at ConCarolinas.  Scarecrow At Midnight will be screened as part of the film festival that weekend along with Michael Sharpe’s Monomaniacal and other fantastic entries.

In the world of horror, fans are gearing up for the new release from John Carpenter – The Ward – which hits theaters on July 8th! MVP is planning a trip to Kentucky for this year’s awesome Fright Night Film Festival with none other than the Master of Horror himself – John Carpenter. Be sure to check out our multi-part interview with Ken Daniels – promoter of Fright Night Film Fest and Fandom Fest:

True Blood season 4 is about to start this summer.  Teaser vids have been hitting the internetz every week.

The truly bad ass Mortal Kombat Legacy vids are continuing to bloody the Internet.  Be sure to check them out.

The sleeper supernatural thriller from James Wan – Insidious – is about to hit it’s DVD release date on July 12.  The movie itself is still playing in some theaters.  If you haven’t seen it yet – get out and watch what has been to this point the best horror release of 2011.

Rob Zombie is currently shooting his latest horror flick – Lords of Salem.  Reports from the set say that it is very FX heavy.  I’m glad to see Zombie going back to original works now so his work won’t be subjected to such idiotic scrutiny prior to it’s release as happened with his Halloween films.  I still blame that idiot at AICN “Quint” for starting that snowball rolling with his moronic review of Zombie’s Halloween script.  Yes, this is what’s called carrying a grudge.  I keep bringing that crap up four years later.  It was in effect the Gulf of Tonkin incident for Horror Fandom at which point the entire community’s head disappeared up it’s own ass.  See my review “Rob Zombie’s Halloween is  a Kick Ass Remake” for my thoughts on that frustrating time period in horror.

Mutantville Productions releases first official trailer for “G.H.O.S.T.”

There have been rumblings about an official trailer for MVP’s supernatural thriller coming from the Mutantville offices for the past month.  Fans on Facebook have been privvy to constant updates about work on a “trailer” for weeks on end with little else being offered in the way of explanation.  This morning – a video marked “G.H.O.S.T. trailer” has appeared on the Mutantville Players Youtube channel and the internet seems all abuzz about this sneak peek at the latest full length feature from the MVP team.

No official word yet on a release date as writer director J.T.”Streebo” McRoberts states that “there are still a lot of visual FX and music to be done – but we’re making progress every day.  The performances we captured were amazing and we’ve put every little horror movie trick we could think of in the movie.  In the end – it will be worth the wait.”

G.H.O.S.T. stars Kathy Butler Sandvoss, Clint Jones, Dave Tunik, Jack Stecher, Scott Thomas, Jason Wheeley, Kayli Tolleson and Matthew Ewald.  Check out the offical trailer at the link below:

More “G.H.O.S.T.” Casting News: Davis Osborne Accepts Role In “G.H.O.S.T.”

MVP and Mutantville.com are proud to announce the addition of Charlotte-based actor Davis Osborne to the already stellar cast of “G.H.O.S.T.”  Davis joins Dave Tunik on the set this weekend.  He will play the part of “Joshua” in the first of a series of new scenes introducing the eponymous ghost hunting team in “G.H.O.S.T.’

Davis has appeared in a multiplicity of productions in and around the Charlotte area – including “Pursuit”, “Tolerance”, and the award winning short film “Chekov’s Children” by director Robert Fillion.

Davis initially auditioned for “G.H.O.S.T.” at the casting call back in August of ’09 – but  was unable to accept a role at the time due to schedule conflicts.  Director J.T. McRoberts states, “I was very impressed with Davis’ auditions.  Davis quite literally blew us away with his reading.  I was always disappointed that we weren’t able to align our schedules to allow him to join us at the time.  As soon as I started reading through the new scenes and thinking of the talent in the area – Davis’ name immediately sprung to mind.  I reached out to him about participating and he graciously accepted.”

Davis’ philosophy on acting is proudly displayed on his website where he states, “every character . . . ever written, has an emotion to convey . . . to evoke in the silent bystander . . . the one in the shadows . . . the viewer.  Pity. . .hate. . .fear. . .lust. . .love. . .concern.  It is my job as the actor to search deep inside of me. . . . and find the parts of my human nature that I can use and magnify to deliver more than a performance. . .”

MVP Wraps Another Ghostly Scene.

This past weekend, the Mutantville Players weathered the storms across two states to converge on an one hundred year old house in the sleepy town of Smyrna, South Carolina to film the scheduled last scene for G.H.O.S.T.. Director, J.T. McRoberts, cinematographer Geo Swanko, and costume designer Luis Machicao joined actors Scott Thomas and Kathy Sandvoss to bring this dreamy sequence to life.

MVP was originally scheduled to film this scene back at the beginning of December but was forced to postpone due to poor weather conditions and sub-zero temperatures. This scene was designed in order to showcase the amazing costume designs of couture designer Luis Machicao. We searched long and hard for a suitable location that would pass for a Civil War period home – Luis himself was able to secure this amazing location for us.

Sunday morning saw storms cover the Carolinas – but we were in luck as the area around Smyrna was clear. MVP decided to take the risk and go forward with the shoot.  It was quite a long trip down to the backwoods of South Carolina – but it was well worth it. The cast and crew had to drive through torrential downpour to make it to Smyrna – but everyone arrived safe and sound. We were pleased to round the bend to overcast – but calm skies and an amazing landscape nestled in a cloud of fog. The conditions couldn’t have been more conducive to filming our dream sequence if we had planned it that way.

Our hosts Kevin, Laura and Cameron were very gracious and patient with us as we dressed the cast in Luis’ gorgeous costumes and took them out in the field. Six year old Cameron was quite interested in our activities and even offered his ideas for a few horror scenes for our movie which he thought should include zombies. We had a few close scares as the sky tossed a short downpour or two on us during filming – but for the most part we went unmolested by the rain. Kathy and Scott took to their task like true professionals and we were able to shoot our way through the scene without any difficulty. Keep watching Facebook over the coming week as we share the bevy of gorgeous photos taken during the shoot.

Mutantville Productions would like to extend our most gracious thanks to our hosts Kevin, Laura, and Cameron for allowing us to come into their home. This was the scheduled final shoot of G.H.O.S.T. – but we can’t celebrate just yet. With the announced plans to continue working on G.H.O.S.T. to extend it to a full length feature run time – this is not the ending – but another amazing beginning.

Thanks, MVP. We’ll see you back on the set soon!
