Indie Filmmakers – Send Your Media Releases to Mutantville.com!

Indie Filmmakers – Send Your Media Releases to Mutantville.com!

Jul 15, 2013

Since the launch of Mutantville.com ten years ago – we have used this platform to promote not only MVP and our works – but the works of independent artists that we discover along the way. Over the past year, we’ve expanded from the blog to Twitter to Youtube and finally iTunes with our semi-weekly radio show – MVP Mutant Radio. The driving goal behind everything that MVP does is to create works of genre fiction – and quite honestly to do a better job at it than anyone else. In a lot of ways this precludes our being able to constantly promote other independent artists outside of MVP as we are very much neck deep in the creative process. At this moment I have no less than three scripts that I’m bouncing between not to mention the countless articles that need writing here at the website and lest I forget the umpteen number of projects that are moving through the later stages of production here at Mutantville Productions. I repeat – MVP exists to tell great stories. No more, no less. Along the way we’ve managed to interview and help promote the works of other filmmakers and for two years running, we’ve helped give nearly eighty odd filmmakers a platform to show their work at the Mad Monster Party Film Festival – absolutely free of charge. So to put it succinctly – we’ve done the best we can to help others BUT – and this is a BIG BUT – it is the onus of the filmmaker to pick up their own slack and promote their work. Don’t expect other filmmakers to do your work for you. However – at MVP we DO want to help. Over the years, we’ve seen so many great indie works that it becomes nearly impossible not to talk about them from time to time. However, we’ve reached a point where individuals feel the need to conspire in the shadows and claim that we’re not offering fair and balanced coverage to everyone out there. Well that may in fact be true – because we are artists – NOT JOURNALISTS. Don’t get it confused. We are here to create art...

The Mad Monster Party Recap Show

The Mad Monster Party Recap Show

Mar 27, 2013

How does one recap such an epic adventure as Mad Monster Party? It takes a certain amount of time to step back and get perspective on what an epic event the promoters managed to put on for the regional horror fans. Unless you’ve visited lesser cons, you really lack the experience to see MMP for the really big and pretty well coordinated show that it is. Once again, Mutantville was on hand to run the film festival. While it might be possible that I am somewhat biased, I think MVP’s Mad Monster Film Festival in it’s sophomoric outing really cemented itself as one of the states premier film festivals. Given that nothing comes close to Nevermore Film Festival at the present time, I think it’s fair to say that there are certainly more poorly ran convention film festivals out there and unlike so many of them, our’s can still boast it’s entry fee of zero dollars! In fact, Mutantville currently comes out of pocket for all promotional items to get people into the room for the Films. This year Streebo even pulled off an 11th hour custom illustration to transform the Blake Hotel’s Mecklenberg 3 Conference room into the HALL OF DOOM! Muticia’s and Mutie were on hand Saturday during a period in which I’m told that Tales From Mutantville DVD’s were flying off the racks. Oh, yeah! Did I mention that the official DVD’s for both Tales From Mutantville and G.H.O.S.T. made their 1st public appearances at the con? It’s true! It’s DARN true! Shrink wrapped Baby! That’s what I’m talking about. I as finally able to remove the massive G.H.O.S.T. project files from my primary editing drive and ANVIL gave a sigh of relief. With our two Mutantville babies official birthed, it felt great to see folks buying them and their respective T-shirts and asking questions about the stories and such. Seeing a project completed is so satisfying! The Second Annual Mad Monster Party Film Festival Announces Winners!

Mar 25, 2013

The Film Festival committee would like to congratulate the winners of this year’s festival as well as all of the entrants and official selections. There were a lot of great submissions this year and due to time and space limitations we can only play a certain number. This year that number was forty-one. Like highlander of old – there can be only one winner for each category ranging from Horror to Fantasy to Science Fiction. WINNER BEST HORROR – Found Found Marty is the ideal fifth grader. He gets good grades, listens to his teachers, and doesn’t start trouble in class. But darkness is beginning to fall over Marty’s life. The kids at school won’t stop picking on him, his parents just don’t seem to understand him, and now Marty must grapple with a terrible secret that threatens to destroy life as he knows it – his big brother is a serial killer! Brotherly love is put to the intimate test in this emotional coming – of age story that descends into full blow horror. Website Facebook Fanpage WINNER BEST FANTASY – All Hallow’s Evil: The Lord of the Harvest All Hallow’s Evil: Lord of the Harvest An Evil force is summoned on All Hallows Eve, and now the sleepy town of Hallowed Hill will endure the dark Lords vengeance.
