It’s time for another Monday morning Mutantville Player roll call! Streebo! Geo! Brento! Toddo! No wait that’s not right. I think he’s Mega-Todd or Dr.Savini or something like that but it breaks the name-plus-o convention that we have going. Anyway – we’re all here and accounted for after another long hard weekend making the best in genre entertainment that the Planet Earth has to offer.
When I hold up my Majic Spyglass I can see all the Mutants sitting at home with us. I see Kathy and Catherine. Jason and Dave. There’s Super-K and Angela. Oh – I see Kayli and Meghan and Janice and Ruff. Hey – there’s Kat and Matthew and I even see you! Looks like we’re all accounted for.
Now let’s strap in and put our bits in place because the Mutantville Mothership is about to blast off. We’re headed for the five oblong corners of the Internet and there’s no coming back. Matthew Ewald and Bones McCoy on the set of Robert W. Filion's Athena.
Welcome back to another wild and whooly edition of Fridays with MVP, oh my faithful mutants. It’s been a crazy month for MVP so far as the Mutantville Players have been deep in the trenches of post-production working on final post for G.H.O.S.T. to get ready for our upcoming private cast and crew screening on October 30th. The footage looks great, the sound is coming along and we’ve just cut a deal with the great Martin Bowes of Attrition to compose the final score for our little supernatural thriller.
We’re super busy this month so there’s little time for updates. We’re going to leave you with a few videos and pics to give you an idea of what’s happening in the world of horror here in North Carolina and beyond while we get back making movie magic – or is that MAJIC! Party on. Make something great. Do the impossible. It’s all within your grasp. This public service announcement has been brought to you by Streebo.
Usually, I keep things light on my weekly Vlog/Blog article but from time to time I feel the need to speak on a serious matter. Any of you who live in the Yadkin-Pee Dee River Basin, as I do, or indeed in the whole of North Carolina need to be aware that a proverbial fox has been in the hen house and is currently attempting to establish a long term residence there.
Welcome back to another edition of Fridays With MVP! There’s so much going on that it’s hard to figure out where to begin. There are more horror films hitting theaters this weekend, Turner Classic Movies has posted their Halloween schedule and The Carolina Theatre is gearing up for the Escapism Festival.

Welcome back to another edition of Mutantville Monday, oh faithful Mutants! We’ve come through another long and productive weekend aboard the Mutantville Mothership so it’s time to give you a rundown on the latest happenings in the worlds of speculative fiction – as seen through the eyes of independent filmmakers. We have a steaming hot load of MVP News for you this morning followed by the Box Office Report with Contagion topping the charts and crazy rumors from around the web – so let’s get started!
(Get your mind and your noses blown after the leap!)
Alien is one of those movies that has been homaged, ripped off and copied. Even in movies like Spaceballs. The original Alien was released in 1979. It was directed by Ridley Scott. It was written by Dan O’Bannon and Ronald Shusett. Alien stars Tom Skerritt, Sigourney Weaver, Veronica Cartwright (no relation to the Cartwrights from Bonanza), Harry Dean Stanton, John Hurt, Ian Holm, Yaphet Kotto, Bolaji Badejo and Helen Horton.
This is the story of a space mining ship (the kind you see everyday) called the Nostromo. The crew are awaken from hypersleep to investigate a strange signal from a planet. They discover it is not a call for help but a warning. Dun dun dun!
