3.5 million for just MIDNIGHT you dummies…it made 21.4 million total friday, on par for a 55+ million dollar opening weekend

3.5 million for midnight on an R rated sci-fi film is ENORMOUS

  2. Could have done without the dummies comment but thanks for the info. The Friday total was unavailable at the time of our recording. Thanks for listening. **Streebo

  3. Cool show interesting to listen to someone talk about the movie who didn’t want to trash it cause it wasn’t a straight up Alien movie or couldn’t follow the story. I loved the movie too.The first time I walked out of the theater that excited about what I saw in years!

  4. Thanks for the comments, Dr.Mowamba. I’m glad you enjoyed the discussion. We had a lot of fun watching and then talking about Prometheus. I’m contemplating going back for an IMAX screening sometime soon! Thanks for listening!

  5. This was a fun discussion. I too really enjoyed Prometheus. I think this one will linger in the theater for quite awhile, and make a healthy profit. Should be well over 50 mil for the weekend.

Movies like Prometheus that attempt to be something beyond just a regular movie, take a while to digest. There are a bunch of sub-plots that people are missing. The parent/child, creator/product stuff, etc. Gonna need a Director’s Cut and package with all the extras and extensions for everyone to fully appreciate this one.

NOTE: You don’t have to say, “spoiler” when referencing 2001. It made me laugh though!

  6. Hey Mike – Thanks for checking out the podcast and thanks for coming over from the Rogan board. Very cool. You’re right – even though Prometheus didn’t come in number one this weekend – it did take in a decent gross so hopefully it goes on to make a decent profit. I always want to see wildly imaginative films like this succeed and thrive because it opens the doors for other creative films. I can’t wait to devour the blu ray for this one. The visual imagery of this film is a pure feast. Thanks for the comments and thanks for listening!
