Charlotte, NC — The people spoke and the monsters listened! Despite the rousing success of the Mad Monster Party convention over the past two years – there were some concerns about accessibility at the Blake Hotel. Convention goers noted increasing difficulty accessing the hotel via elevator during the convention this past March. In order to improve the overall experience at the Mad Monster Party, the promoters decided to move the event across town to the Hilton Charlotte University Place for their return in 2014.

Mark your calendars and set the date because the craziest convention in the South will be back from March 21st through the 23rd in 2014. The Hilton Charlotte University Place has been home to several conventions over the years and should make for a roomy new stomping ground for the Mad Monster Party.

The Hilton Charlotte University Place is located at 8629 J.M Keyes Dr. in Charlotte, NC. Call to reserve your room at the convention rate today!

  1. I’m not thrilled about the location move but I’m sure MVP will rock it no matter where they hold it.

Having been to many conventions in both the Blake and The Hilton Charlotte University Place I have to compare the two like this. The Blake is like an open airy museum, albeit from the 70’s. The vendor rooms are extremely spacious. On the downside the elevators are slow as Hades.

The Hilton has smaller, somewhat more updated rooms. The Elevators work fine and the parking is free. The convention space is like a tomb. Smallish halls and vendor areas with the nasty smoking area right in front of the door. Grrrr.

In summation, I’m a little sad to see MMP leave the Blakce. That said those halls are huge and I’m sure that rental is a beast. While I don’t see Hilton really being all that much bigger as far as the convention space, I do really dig MMP and I’m sure a great time will be had in the new location.

This has been a public service announcement from your neighborhood Johnny Brento.
