MVP Screenings on Fridays With MVP

MVP Screenings on Fridays With MVP

Apr 12, 2013

Hello Mutants. It’s Friday. That means another Fridays with MVP. If you followed my sage wisdom from last week’s article, you got yourself into a theater over the weekend along with millions of other horror fans and watched the most excellent update to the Evil Dead franchise. I loved it. My kids both loved it. Hell, what’s not to love, boomsticks and bad @ss demons from the dark woods? This week’s suggestion for your entertainment dollar is really a no brainer. Get yourself out to the Don Gibson theater in Shelby, North Carolina by 7 PM on Saturday to check out a presentation of films from independent Carolina film makers. The program includes “Mosaic 33,” “See The Dead,” “Indigo Child” and “The Man in the Cellar.”  Tickets are only $7 and the proceeds will go to benefit the Cleveland County Arts Council, and we all know Cleveland rocks right? Yours truly had a hand in Mosaic 33 and also wrote and directed Indigo Child. As Indigo Child is currently released on the first volume of “Tales from Mutantville” (Available right here on Mutantville.com, Right Geo?) this will almost certainly the last public screening of the film starring Matthew Ewald, Vanessa Ore and Kayli Tolleson. Don’t miss your opportunity to see it with a crowd. If you can’t make, but sure to pick up a copy of Tales From Mutantville. Tales & G.H.O.S.T. Final DVD’s

Tales & G.H.O.S.T. Final DVD’s

Mar 6, 2013

It’s been a long road, mutant children, getting from there to here. Check out the video after the leap wherein Johnny Brento holds in his hands a physical copy of the professional pressed DVD for both G.H.O.S.T. & Tales from Mutantville. These sweet babies are hot off the presses and you can pick them up down at your local S-Mart for a mere $19.95. Remember, shop smart. Shop S-mart! Ok, so perhaps S-Mart should be Mad Monster Party over by the Mutantville Table and photo op with Muticia. In any case having the DVD’s at LONG LAST ready to sell is a beautiful thing. There are far too many fond memories from both of these productions to share here. Suffice to say that a lot of tender loving care went into the production of both. Once always looks for that moment to say, this or that project is finally done. I have to believe that holding the finished DVD in your hands is one such milestone. It’s been a fun ride and I know I speak for both of my partners and myself when I say that we are proud of both, but ready to move onto the creation of new works. It’s kind of like seeing your child move on out into the real world, I’d imagine. You love them an insane amount but things are squeezed by your love and attention at home. Will the world love them as you do. One can only hope. At any rate, that time has now finally arrive. Spread your wings and fly my movie children. Your 3 Daddy’s love...

G.H.O.S.T. is Ready for Release on Johnny Brento’s JuJu

G.H.O.S.T. is Ready for Release on Johnny Brento’s JuJu

Sep 19, 2012

There are just so many ways we can say that a project is close to being completed. At last I can officially say that G.H.O.S.T. is finally completed! Yeah, I know it took a little while longer than originally expected but contrary to popular belief, we all have day jobs! The DVD is a complete work with some extras that expand the back story for those who care about such things an included an interview with that guy, Matthew Ewald whom some of you may know from various other film projects. Also included is a “Best of Mutant TV” featurette that the budding film makers among you might really appreciate. For those of you lucky enough to get your hands on an advanced Festival edition note that this is an updated version of the film. At long last those of you have been waiting patiently can get your hands on one of these sweet babies. I imagine an order form will be showing up here on Mutantville.com any day now. Also at the finish line is Tales from Mutantville. The DVD build lacks a single small edit to add credits for everyone’s favorite horror hostess, Muticia, The Movie goddess and a few of the cast not specific to any of the individual films and those are ready to be manufactured as well. I’m hopeful that these can be ready to go this week. I worked with Streebo on Episode #1 of Muticia’s Movie Morgue, featuring George A. Romero’s Night of The Living Dead for most of the day Sunday, before breaking for an epic Absolute Zero practice. The sound design is essentially completed and a few TV bumpers are all that remain to be completed. We are on track for a Halloween cast and crew screening the week of Halloween and a world wide release on via Youtube on October 31, 2012! Yeah, Buddy! Work for Take That has reached a fever pitch and the shoot is quickly approaching. Most of the prep is ready but there are always last minute things to tackle and I’m sure this project will be no different. Lastly, I’ll mention that MVP stalwarts met with Brad Horde from...

Merciless Machines Attempt to Stifle Family Fiend and Fail

This weekend Tales from Mutantville premiered at the Mad Monster Party. The joke was on Family Fiend unfortunately because the DVD player was not cooperative. The machines thought they had won, but little did they know that on Saturday we were running ahead of schedule and had some time to show Family Fiend and Scarecrow at Midnight. This was the first time something I wrote and directed screened for the public. It was an awesome feeling. I was glad that the very talented Catherine Trail, who played Tess in Family Fiend, was there to watch it for the first time. We appreciate all of our friends and guests that were in attendance as well. One thing I didn’t really get to talk about after the screening is the fact that I wanted people to have questions at the end of the film. I’m not always a fan of everything being buttoned up nice and neat at the end of a movie. In life we don’t always get all of our questions answered. We have different perceptions and ideas based on our experiences and beliefs. Hopefully Family Fiend ends in such a way that people have some questions. With one character for example, (I don’t want to give away too much since most people haven’t seen the film yet) I wanted to make people wonder what may be illness and what may be personality. Hopefully other questions about reality, how did ______ end up _____, etc… To me, that’s something cool about film. You take people on a ride and they question what happened and it may stay with them a little while. This doesn’t have to happen to make a movie good, but it doesn’t hurt. One thing I didn’t go for is making something odd or weird just for the sake of being weird. Ah ah ah choodavidlynchooo! Don’t get me wrong I like Lynch I just remember some scenes in Mulholland Drive making me think, “What in the world?” or “Why introduce these detectives and not use them any more in the movie?” Well, I guess that’s enough rambling for now. Mutantville would sincerely like to thank each and every person that...
