Another week. Another Johnny Brento’s JuJu. This week a few changes to the format and news of coming content.
This week was sparked by an awesome deal I found on Amazon. They have a 24″x36″ Texas Chainsaw Massacre (Who Will Survive) Movie Poster for less than $4! Go to convention and try to get a big poster for that. Anyway, finding the poster inspired me to put up some facts about the film and a few videos.
The Texas Chainsaw Massacre (not pronounced mass a crey…that’s country speak) was released in 1974. I would have seen this in the theater but I was only 6 months old and they wouldn’t let me in. Another example of the man trying to oppress me. As most of us know, the film was directed by Tobe Hooper. Tobe also wrote the film with Kim Henkel. The film starred Marilyn Burns, Allen Danziger, Paul A. Partain, William Vail, Edwin Neal, Jim Siedow and Gunnar Hansen. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre is a teen feel good movie about a group of friends that visit their grandfather’s house and are hunted down by a family of cannibals. Of course the main character that is remembered from the family is Leatherface who wields a chainsaw and wears a mask made of human skin.
Now for some interesting facts and videos! Continue Reading…
Today’s Collector’s Corner seems quite timely as we just recently witnessed the ultra rare Nightbreed: Cabal Cut at the Mad Monster Party convention in Charlotte, NC. What better time to feature a collection of very cool Nightbreed lobby cards on eBay? This is the Spanish set of Nightbreed lobby cards to be precise and they are beautiful. Check it out and happy bidding!
David Cronenberg is one of our favorite horror filmmakers of all time. No other filmmaker’s work quite captured the disturbing visceral quality of his works. One of the his most memorable one sheets comes from the 1981 films Scanners.
I remember hanging out at my buddy Kirk’s down the street. His family had a room with a pool table and over it hung the classic one sheet for Scanners. Kirk’s older brother was always watching horror films and had plastered posters in the rec room as well as his own room. None of them stood out the way the Scanners one sheet did. It haunted me for years and now you have a chance to bring it home.
The bargain hunters and mad collectors at MVP have discovered an eBay auction for a nice French Scanners one sheet. Bid now and hang it over your pool table later.
I picked up an amazing original one sheet for 1987′s “The Curse.”
Nathan Hayes is a religious man trying to hold onto his farm and keep his family in line. A real estate developer is trying to buy most of the farm property in the area, including Mr. Hayes family farm, in the hope that the Tennesse Valley Authority will choose the town for the site of a new dam and recreational area. The night of a terrible storm, an unidentified, glowing object crashes on the Hayes farm and with it comes a horrible curse for the Hayes family and the members of the community. Written by Anonymous
In this second adaptation of H.P. Lovecraft’s story “The Colour out of Space,” a huge, glowing meteorite falls on a farm in Tellico Plains, Tennesse. After the meteorite melts into the soil, strange mutations occur on the farm. The fruit and livestock become filled with maggots, cabbage and chickens become filled with green slime, and certain members of the farm family become swollen, slime-drooling mutants. Now two of the farmer’s children who wisely avoided the meteorite’s contamination seek outside help.
The San Diego Reader apparently has the Collector’s Corner hookup because they periodically post alternate and rejected versions of movie one sheets. This week – they have shared a horror film lover’s delight with an alternate design for the Halloween III Season of the Witch one sheet.
Normally we like to post links to auctions where rabid collectors like ourselves can bid on the items in question. Unfortunately this particular one sheet is so rare that you will most likely never see it for sale – anywhere. But that’s the joy of collecting isn’t it? Trying to find that impossible to find item makes life worth living. Well now Halloween III fans have a nice Holy Grail they can chase after. Check it out after the leap!
This week on Collector’s Corner we have a vintage grindhouse one sheet featuring Larry Cohen’s most commercially successful work – It’s Alive. This one sheet may look like a Rosemary’s Baby rip-off and that’s probably intentional – but hanging on your wall it’s sure to make the girls hot to trot! Click on over to eBay now and bid on this classic poster.
Elvira returns to Mutantville.com! One of our most popular posts on Mutantville.com is “Horror Hostess History” featuring Elivra, Vampira and Miko Macabre. I recently discovered that there’s a nice little sub-market of Elvira figures and toys on eBay so I figured why not share them here on Collector’s Corner?
Bid on these beauties while you can. Click the individual links to place your bid.

In honor of the start of the second season of the show called the Greatest Drama of the Year 2010 – The Walking Dead – the Mutantville Players are happy to welcome back the “Little Girl Zombie” herself – Ms.Addy Miller! Fans of The Walking Dead will remember Addy from the opening scene of season one of The Walking Dead which was later voted the Best Zombie Moment of the series by fans. Addy is a good friend of ours whom we were lucky enough to get to know on the set of Ghost Trek this past December and have come to enjoy spending time with her and her family at various horror conventions across the country.
