Looking at Speculative Fiction from Another Dimension.

Another Halloween is Gone – but MVP is here to stay.

Welcome back to the MVP Blog for another Streeborama update, oh faithful mutants. It’s been a wild and crazy October as we have been on a non-stop promotional tear since the first of the month. Somehow we managed to make it through a month full of screenings, promotions and endless amounts of media from our Youtube account to the MVP Blog to a whopping seven full episodes of MVP Mutant Radio! We started the month with the singular goals to complete all of the major MVP projects of the past few years and get those out to the masses. We finished work on both the G.H.O.S.T. and Tales from Mutantville DVDs at the beginning of the month and with the final piece of Muticia’s Movie Morgue uploaded to Youtube yesterday morning – we completed our goal of releasing it all! Just barely – but we did it.

The unfortunate part is that despite having three amazing projects to put out to the masses – we have been mired in red tape ever since the beginning of the month. At present – that red tape is keeping us from putting the G.H.O.S.T. and Tales from Mutantville DVDs online with Amazon. With a little patience and persistence, we’ll get it all sorted out soon enough – but I can’t help but feel a tad disappointed that we weren’t able to get them for sale online during October. What can you do? I always find it’s best not to fixate too much on events that spiral out of control and just focus on finding joy in the little victories along the way.

To briefly recap – we managed to put out seven full episodes of MVP Mutant Radio this month – starting with a discussion with independent filmmaker Jayson Densman and along the way we talked to Back Alley Film Series Promoter Jay, Myers House NC owner – Kenny Caperton, Chester Grim’s alter ego Jay Reel and we closed it all out with a mega-show featuring Murder by Music vol. 2 with a collection of over thirty songs and score clips. MVP put in appearances at multiple screenings and events this month including a special final theatrical screening of Scarecrow at Midnight to celebrate the release of Tales from Mutantville. And despite the fact that the DVDs are not available for purchase online as yet – they have been available for purchase in person at MVP events and we have been working diligently to put sccreener copies in the hands of reviewers from coast to coast.

Meeting the Goddess on the set of the Movie Morgue.

We closed out the Halloween season by uploading the final version of Muticia’s Movie Morgue to Youtube and Streebo managed to go on a final Halloween day media tour making podcast appearances not only on MVP Mutant Radio – but somehow found time to put in an appearance on the Exploited Cinema two part Halloween episode as well as stopping by the Horror Palace to make an appearance during the Land of the Creeps LIVE Halloweeen show!

Which leads us to now. The day after Halloween. It’s on this day that the old existential dread settles in. I know as soon as I walk the aisles of the local Wally World today that I’ll see all of the pumpkins and monster faces coming down only to be replaced by snowflakes and smiling angels. Another month celebrating the darkness has come and gone – but we are still here. Most importantly – despite a number of foundation shaking events during the past months – MVP is still here.

We’ve spent the past few years dedicated to completing several long running projects and now – suddenly – they are done. G.H.O.S.T. is ready to go online and find ghost hunting movie fans from across the world. Muticia’s Movie Morgue managed to open long enough to make a splash among the horror fans. Tales from Mutantville put a button on the MVP collection of short films. And now – what’s next?

Brento already cast his own fate by deciding to strike out on several side projects over the coming months. He’s already completed principle photography on his third directorial effort – Take That and is in pre-production for his next work – Mosaic 33. MVP has not officially announced our next project – and I am saddened to say that – we most likely will remain very quiet about our future works. I’ven noticed a bit of a trend in that MVP seems to lead the way for others to follow and all too often the ambition of others interferes with our ability to acquire resources to complete our own work. So from now on – all MVP filmmaking events will be behind closed doors. Once the works are completed – we’ll throw back the curtains for all to see.

Tales from Mutantville coming soon to Amazon.com!

But fear not – for this is not the end of MVP. In fact – Streebo has already been hard at work on his next script which will take MVP through the next few years – and if all goes according to plan – we will reach new heights both in terms of creativity and artistic risk taking. Quite simply – that has always been the MVP way. Aim for the stars – and though you may miss – at least you’ll reach further than all of those that never try. To that end – let me send out a round of thanks to my MVP collaborators and co-conspirators in filmmaking crime – Geo and Brento. Without the two of you doing what you do – none of this would be possible.

So join me in having that one last glass of pumpkin flavored chai. Smile warmly at the thought of the wild month that lays behind us. Look to the sky in anticipation of what is to come in a future that forever remains wide open. Next up for MVP – we will celebrate ten years of MVP at the Mad Monster Party in March 2013. See you there. Thanks for joining us for another magickal Halloween. We’ll see you on the other side of the looking glass where the rabbits keep time, the playing cards talk, and a little orange mutant named Mutie keeps it real. Halloween is gone, but MVP is here to stay. We wouldn’t have it any other way.

Just had a look at Mosaic 33 over on IMDB, sounds fantastic! Can’t wait to check it out! Robert W. Filion is super talented at everything he does! Shame you guys seem to be winding down your side of things. Still, at least you gave it go!

  2. Thanks for checking out the site, Lee! I appreciate the cool words. Don’t worry – we have plenty planned for the future. I am working on the script for our next full length feature right now – which should keep us busy for the next three years. Lots to do between now and then! : )
